well i know i posted this before a long time ago but cant find the thread again. but ive found an inverter to switch 120v to 12v at radioshack

would that work for a light duty (45wx4 stereo) ive got a crappy cd player jsut sitting here and am wanting to get some use out of it as my car is sitting in storage at my fathers house.

You should be able to pick up a computer power supply for very cheap.
A car battery works if you're just testing it out but you don't want it in your house... it'll give off gases. Also, you have to keep charging it up.

You could pick up a power supply cheap from a computer show (1-10 dollars) You could also go to the local computer store and buy a brand new one for 20.
