I recently rented an 05 Impala LT. It was a great car, but it only average about 21.7 mpg. This kind of freaks me out because I'm buying an 01+ LS. What is the difference of gas mileage?

theres no such thing as an 05 LT. it had to be an LS you test drove. the LT's just started to come out on the 06's. and my '02 3.8 when I figure it out by the numbers instead of by what the car says I get about 21 - 24 depending on how I drive it and how much city driving I do. but that still seems low to me, some people in this forum get amazing milage out of theres. maybe they'll reply too.....hint hint.

It must have been an 06' then. It was definently an LT. Said it on the back n shit. It was a rental car. So what kind of mileage should I expect out of a 01-04 LS? The LT's don't have the 3800 series engines in them, so they have less torque, so should get less mpg.

There are 3 trim levels in the '06 Impala LT models. 1LT, 2LT and 3LT. 1 and 2 have the 3.5L V6 VVT (211 hp) and level 3 has a 3.9L V6 VVT (242 hp).

We've got a '01 Impala LS (3800 Series II) that gets 22 in city and 28 highway.

I have a 2002 Impala (9C1) and I get no less than 24 mpg combined city/highway.

My '03 base gets 29-31mpg with the combo city/highway driving I do. 100 miles a day.
