How Do I Get Rid Of Flies In My Apt..?

Ever since the person upstairs moved out, we've got so many damn houseflies. I honestly think that women put some sh*t in the walls or something, and it's rotting away causing flies in our apt (which is below hers)..
Anyway, what's the best way to get rid of them..? Literally i just counted over 20 in the kitchen...i didn't wanna go nuts with RAID cause that stuff stinks...
Anyone here of fly tape..? Does it work good..?

BTW i checked for old food anywhere..nothing..there's no cause of our apt having flies...they're just here.
Funny thing is, this is a 1 bedroom apt, with 2 a/c's keeping it at like 68degrees.. Flies don't like that..? Why don't they fly out when i leave the door open..?

Fly tape works good if you don't mind dead flies hanging from the ceiling. Spread some honey out on a paper plate or something, that has worked in the past for me. They like the honey, but they get stuck on it... fun to watch.

I was in the electronic doohicky store the other day and saw an electric fly swatter... it was shaped like a tennis racket and it was battery operated. Apparently you shock the fly to death. Whatever happened to the old fashioned wire and plastic fly swatters? Or a rolled up newspaper for that matter?

DAMN jessica alba is my favorite...
Lol..awesome sig.
Thanks guys, i read up on them. They lay eggs that turn into maggots, then larvae then flies in like 6-12 hours. I looked all around my apt and didn't find any "breeding grounds". Tomorrow i'm gonna kill them all with RAID........ I seriously think the women that moved out put LITERALLY horse sh*t in the walls or something (she worked at the racetrack).
She didn't like the landlord and stiffed them with the rent $$ also.

Yo, it's on tomorrow...them flies are gonna get f**ked up..lol. :evillol:
I'm gonna try and find a pesticide spray that doesn't smell to bad. Actually, funny thing is you can use air freshener to spray them, they fall to the ground..STOMP....no smell..just bug guts. :sly: I literally just counted 23 flies on the ceiling/walls in the kitchen.
Tomorrow....it's on.. :naughty:

NAAAAAASTY...
I was reading up on flies, mainly houseflies and it said they lay there eggs in fruit or vegetables...rotting that is. Not fresh fruit.
So i go around, look over every inch of the kitchen....THERE IT IS.. The source of these motherf**kers....a rotted onion and half an apple under the kitchen storage shelves.. I get a hanger, and make it a makeshift long "hook thingy"..lol.. All over the wet, rotting, smelly ass fruit/vege there was magots..and old carcuss from the flies..
The smell was like a dead animal. So i cleaned the area, windexed the f**k out of everything. Tomorrow i'm gonna go ahead with operation "fly kill". To get rid of these f**kers.
Jeez, beer, flies, rotting fruit=an eventful evening.
On a side note:i must get laid...

BUG BOMB!!!!!! Seriously I had that same problem in my garage a couple of years ago. I went to clean it out and there were like hundreds of flies flying around with maggots all over the place. I set off 2 "fresh smelling" bug bombs and sealed the place up and let it sit for 12 hours. After airing it for an hour i went on a cleaning spree. After cleaning the entire garage and finding no source of the flies, i pulled the freezer away from the wall and found a bag of apples that was like liquid. Bug bombs work great but if you have a serious infestation(like i did) i would recomned using twice as much as they say. ONE THING!!!!!! TURN OFF ALL ELECTIC APPLIANCES AND PILOT LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!! ever watch mythbusters? Peace-

eww....that's nasty, but was the bag sealed or open somewhere ? if it was completely sealed then the bugs shouldn't have come from/fed off it.

No the flies like chewed their way through it or something, there were little holes all over the place. Could have been mice too, cuz my house was built on an old farm field so there are mice all over the fucking place. And my cat goes nuts, she will never just kill the damn things!!!!! I find them dead, and they are always curled into a little ball and look like they have been scared to death, no blood, just dead. Damn cat plays with them. Peace-

I know this sounds totally fucked, but for some reason it works. Take a 1 gallon ziplock bag. Fill it 3/4 full of water. Hang it next to the door about head high. For some reason, it keeps the flies out of diners around here so it should work on your apt.

We have huge family gatherings at my grandma's house, and my uncle told us about doing this. It really does work. The only reason flies are so pesky is because they see everything 8 times, so we appear much smaller than we really are. When you do the water thing, they see us through the bags, and we appear normal size to them, and they get scared and stay away.

You need to tell the Apartment Manager immediately. It's his/her responsibility to take care of this problem. If they don't take action in some shape or form contact the owner of the apartments.

Here this is the worst time of year for flies. They are all trying to come inside before it gets cold out. I also have a fly problem at work, we have the pest people come in every week to spray, and we have glue boards up everywhere to catch them. After first frost, its not much of a problem.

Exactly. I was going to post something like this in response. We have a problem this time of year with flies trying to get in the house before winter. The ones that are successful sometimes show up in February or March during the first warm spell. Around here they are called "cluster flies". We also notice an increase in flies in early September right after our annual state fair. I don't know the correlation between the two, but I remember back many years ago when the farmer next door used to spread horse manure from the fair on his fields, talk about swarms of flies! We also see swarms of ladybugs trying to get into the house before winter arrives, sometimes covering the south side of the house on a warm fall day. I personally use fly strips for a day or two and that gets rid of most of them. And the various sprays and bombs available on the store shelves are effective, the only thing is you need to make sure if you use the spray/bombs is that all food is covered and you cleanup any remaining residues.

i'll try that, but being in my bedroom that smell makes me cringe so bad. i'm thinking of making a metal half-sphere to go over the bulb, so the little buggers cant get right up to the bulb itself.

For some reason over the last week or so I've had an influx of great big fat flies - the big lethargic ones that don't seem to be bothered about you being near or swatting at them. They seem to be pairing up and I'll find them squatting on my kitchen window, then another couple next to my dining room table. Even in my downstairs loo! My house is clean, I rarely have any food out and surfaces are wiped etc. They are just so disgusting and I'm terrified one of them is going to lay eggs somewhere... What do I do to get rid of them? Is anyone else similarly plagued this year?
