Front seat DVD Install?

Does anyone have any information on how I would go about installing a portable DVD player in the front of my bench seat impala? I was thinking about somehow mounting it to the floor, so it sits fairly low, between the driver and passenger, similar to police laptops...I'm yet to buy the player, and don't know much about audio/video...Anyone know where I could get a mounting kit for this type of project? Ideas on how to perminantly/semi-perminantly install one? Easy or hard to tap the unit into the car speakers?
