shaking steering wheel at low speeds

ok my car has power steering. the fluid level is ok. only honda p/s fluid is always used. new rotors and brakes were recently replaced. only the steering wheel shakes. not the car, body, or suspension. the steering wheel shakes (turns clockwise, counterclockwise not side to side) about 1/2 an inch at speeds from 10 to 35mph. on the freeway it's ok.

is this a rebalance tire issue? or an alignment issue? i'm on stock springs and struts.

I would have to go with telling u to have your tires balanced and your car aligned. That should solve ur problem.

Tire balance problems usually don't show up until 60mph+. Alignment issues won't cause a steering wheel to shimmy. My guess is that you have a bad tire.

bad tire or bent rim is my guess, hopefully its not a loose rim. My buddy had that problem once, when he would go from a stop he would hear a clunk, and the same from rolling and stopping. we checked and all his lugs were loose, that would have sucked if we didnt catch it soon enough.

Sounds like one of your belts let loose in your tire.

I would have to go with what this man said. I had the same problem. I took my car to walmart, which said they couldn't blance this one wheel. Replaced the wheel, and problem when away. Try getting your tires balanced and listen to what they say.

so i found out today i need new tires. after 44k miles a tire goes bad. they're 65k tires. basically i had bf goodrich tires that had a bubble on the tread an that part was about to wear out. they could replace all 4 with warranty and give me $65 credit plus free installation ($36 value new valve stems and unlimited rebalance included).

point is.. they only have dunlop 65k mile tires. are they good? 480 traction a and wear b? i think or something like that. it's the same numbers/letters as the bf goodrich ones i had before. these cost $36 per tire for dunlop (bfgoodrich originally cost $40) so 144 for all 4 tires minus $65 credit and free installation plus tax would be about $91. is that a good deal for dunlop? my dad wants me to get michelin.. but they don't have michelin for my 13 inch steelies

My guess is that you have a bad tire

65K mile tires means the tread should last about 65K miles, doesn't have anything to with bubbles, cupped ,slipped belts, overinflated, underflated, unrotated, etc. Those things happens from time to time.

$91 for 4 new tires is great deal if you ask me and they aren't even no name knock-off tires. I'd rather have Dunlops than BFG's. Michelin tires are the best street tires but after their ridiculous performance at the USGP I stay away & don't support their business. This is what I say about Michelin . . . . .

Magic :lol: I had one of the admin's LadyNRedSi introduced me to change it.

Dunlops are good tires. I think I have a similar issue. I have cheap Warrior tires. It's raining today and I was hydroplaning like crazy. I have unlimited balancing though so I'm going to have them checked out.
