92 Transmission MLP Sensor

I just picked up a 92 GM. The only issue with the car is that the tranny wont go into OD, it acts like its in neutral when it shifts fro 3rd to OD. I've read somewhere that the MLP sensor could be the issue. I thought that it would be located in the area of the shift linkage on the tranny but it isn't. Could someone help me out?

What transmission do you have AOD or AOD-E????????????????

Not sure, I'm not too familure with non-GM products. The pan says something about metric, but thats all I know. What should I look for?
