windshield wipers won't turn off

The wipers stay on ...1999 Saturn LS. Once you turn them on you can't turn them off. Please advise

there is a switch inside the wiper motor that closes when the wiper are not the park position, this switch allows the wiper to contine to the park position if the switch is turned off with the wipers still up. i'm guessing that switch is the problem, if so the wiper motor may need replaced.

My 1998 did the same thing. I had to pullthe motor/control pack out and replace it. There is a micro relay on the control board (mounted to the motor) that fried. It was easier to just get a junkyard mounter/control than to try and find a relay to fix it. So I bought a new junkyard set and put it in, Thing works great. This happened a few years ago.
