Wow! Sweet color! Looks perfect, but do you really think that a 500 HP naturally aspirated V10 needs nitrous? :iceslolan

Dr. Eddie, it's looking mighty fine. Although I'm completely against the Viper engine (an european engineer could definately get more power out of a 8.3 liter engine), it does look good :)

Cheers,
Pedro.

an american engineer could too (aka john hennesey). but 500 hp is plenty of power so why waste the R&D money and then make the car even more expensive?

nice job on the paint too, by the way. i can't wait to see it all put together!

We all know that the Viper isn't expensive because engine development costs are high! ;) The car is quite good looking, although I wouldn't have one even if it was offered..(it wouldn't fit in my garage!:D)
I didn't express myself the right way...I'm sure Dodge has great engineers, probably better ones than some at Ferrari...I'm not saying that it would be better or not, but why not take full advantage of such displacement? I mean, the S2000 (for example) would have 996hp with an 8.3Lt engine!! (I'm talking all NA engines here)

Eddie, sorry to hack your thread! I made my point and I promisse not to talk about it anymore :)

the main place the viper runs up the cost is in its platform. that cost is ridiculously high because it isnt shared with any other dodge or chrysler products. the mustang shares its platform with several other cars (lincoln ls, etc.), the chrysler crossfire with the mercedes slk, dodge charger with the magnum and 300C, even the corvette and the cadillac xlr share platforms... the list goes on. the engine research and technology does play a large part of the cost of the viper. making it more powerful from what it is already would just add to the cost and shy away more buyers. remember, its a low quantity car, so any costs that normally wouldnt swing a price more than a couple hundred dollars turns more into a couple thousand dollars.

beyond that, there is no need to take full advantage of the displacement. its not like the viper is underpowered. plus, the point of a viper is to have a massive v-10 engine with enough torque to change the earth's rotation. look at it in both directions - how many people are gonna buy a $300,000 dodge, even if it had 1200 hp? and who would buy a dodge viper with something like a 4 liter v6, even if it made 500hp?

WARNING THIS IT NOT AN ATTACK!!!

Thats a pretty offensive reply.

ok I believe you one the v10 8.3 l has 500 hp. etc etc
but thats is pretty strange, why have a v10 in your car with "only" 500 hp! the car isn't going faster with it you know. A v6 with 500 Hp would be lighter, so the hp/weigth would be better. and the handling would be better (not a big blok of steel in the front causing massive oversteer), cause american cars arent famous because there great handling. LIke jeremy clarkson (topgear) says: " its a car you can have a lot of fun with, but that doesn't make it a sportscar."

And mostly the fuel economy should be better, with a smaller engine (i know not always)

maybe it has to do with the NA cuture: the bigger the better!

But come on, now i know that i'm new here, but you just cant dissagree that european engine's are better!

Then again american cars are cheaper. but there must be a reason that americans want to drive european.

but another subject, like you car, nice paintjob!

cheers mates!

nice model man, looks sweet.

In my oppinion i dont think most buyers care about the motor size, handeling, hp ect. i have seen alot of older and new vipers up here and most of the owners are rich office men who dont know the first thing about cars nor do they care the only thing they car about it that its expensive and looks cool. so i think even if the viper was offered with a v6 or small v8 it whould still sell. look at the mustang back in the 80's and early 90's it was offered with a 4 banger a v6 and a v8 and i see more of the 4 and v6 models running around than the v8's. i thinks its just an image thing now a days. Thats just my 2 cents.

agian nice model man. great paint.

looking good so far =)

as for the viper and power ... it's an american thing ... big motor ... Torque! as for comparing a smaller engine to it .. and saying it would have so and so power if it had that much displacement ... yes using math it should ... but in real terms .. it wont ... that much larger and it will not have as much power as you expect ... more friction, rotational mass etc ...

By the way, the 8.3 L V10 is all-aluminum, shedding some pounds, but anywho....
Love this car, love yellow cars, I only wish someone would attempt the Carbon Concept SRT-10 Viper shown at SEMA I believe, carbon fiber trunk lid, hood, removable hardtop, front lip, under hood air panel, black 5-spokes and the modded motor with individual throttle bodies, nasty lookin car

*Yawn* Itīs been done already CADguy is the man (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=418133) Looking really good there Eddie, Iīm NOT a big fan of yellow cars in general, but it looks like you did a very good job with the paint. Good luck finishing this one!

Think i made a boo-boo. The panel lines (painted with gray and some yellow) came out way too dark. Oh well. no desire to repaint. Polish compound isn't really working like I thought it would in the panel lines to remove it or make it lighter.
NOS tank from Aoshima spo-com set. I would rather not hear about "Oh you ruined a great american muscle car with tuner garbage", however this is a free forum for expression. I just felt like spicing up the interior so whatever if you disagree with the concept.

Don't freak out man... NOS Viper exist since a long time... the VELENO was a cool Viper and one of the first (Viper) with NOS. I don't hate what you've done... in fact, the color make it stand tall in front of every car. Don't let the negatives get to you, you model is nice and the idea has been there for a long time but some don't like it.

PS... the panel lines seem ok from here. Planning of opening those air vent on the hood ??

theres nothing wrong with using nitrous in a muscle car. i mean hey, look at some drag specific cars... they basically run on nitrous.

the wash doesnt look terrible either. i don't even have the guts to try it, and if you dont like how yours came out, at least it was a learning experience and you'll know what to do different for next time!

the panel lines look pretty good.....they are a tad dark yes...but hey, colors like yellow and white and the like, they are hard to get panel lines that look JUST right.....to all the others, dont be afraid of panel lines, its just acrylic paint, and easy to remove if you mess up or it ends up outside the lines....just mix it till its a milk like or water like consistency, all you have to do is touch the lines and it flows right in. unless they aren't deep enough.....I usually scribe my panel lines a couple times before paint to make sure that they stay nice a crisp

That's a nice model, of a nice car. Your panel lines are a litle overkill but thankfully not totally black and not therefore ruined that superb paintjob.

Next time, with yellow, mix orange and yellow and then do your panel lines.. Looks better and just a tad darker then the body colour.. It's how I did my S2000 panel lines that was also yellow..

What a horrid colour to work with though.. I love yellow sports cars, but hate working with yellow..

looking great so far, the interior looks very realistic with the NOS bottle and seatbealts. As for the panel line, if you don't like it you can try scraping it out with a scriber and filling them with another color. I don't think paint will ever cut it on panel lines. I've started scribing the lines deep enough to the point where it's almost detached before painting.
