The dealer just told me I need a new speed sensor to get my traction control to work again.I was told the speed sensor is part of the hub and has to be purchased as an assembly.About a $300 repair job.Does anybody know if I can just put on a new speed sensor without getting a new hub? Thanks.

That is an intregal hub/sensor assembly and will have to be replaced as a unit.

If i where you I wouldn't get it fixed...I think traction control is retarded. Mine had it but it doesn't work anymore and i won't get it fixed...and now i don't have to mess with the switch anymore!!

Depends what sort of weather-state you live in. Its nice for rain/snowy roads occasionally. Though I can say I've never used it, I turn it off in my 03 and the 9C1 doesn't have it. But if you weren't as good of a driver or something, it would have far better use to you...

Turns out the only thing wrong was that the connector on the wireing harness was broke.I fixed it myself. However I do agree with the other posts that it is useless.

Gerald:
A friend of mine said this is a relatively easy repair. I looked into buying a new hub and it was about $165 (with tax included). I'm going to get a used hub at the local junk yard tomorrow. A local mechanic said the speed sensor is built into the hub at the factory and cannot be replaced by itself. When I get the used hub I can photograph it and email the photo to you. You can contact me at [email protected]
