Be Warned: Theftlock

Hey all,

I just bought (ebay.com) a used factory CD player stereo for my ride, not realizing that it had theftlock. Now I've got to get to the dealership to get it unlocked. Just for anyone who follows my tracks, be prepared for this issue...It's a pain in the butt...

that is a normal procedure...I've researched before I decided not to "upgrade".

any idea if i can do it meself, or if it needs to be reprogrammed?

after you unlock the radio, it will need to be 'programmed' to the car, otherwise when turned on it'll read CAL ERROR [or something similar]. i should think a dealer would do both for a half hours labor.

saw someone asking about it in another thread...had to get a reprogram from the dealer....cost about $75 for 15 min work...

yea, i was pretty pissed....although, it only cost me about $130 total to upgrade from AM/FM to CD....didn't want a bottom of the line aftermarket unit, which woulda run me about the same. So, overall, not a bad deal, and no regrats w/ the results, obviously.

For the dealer to do it, do you have to prove ownership of the cd player ?

ur supposed to, but they didn't check mine.

Fucking Theftlock. I got jacked bigtime on this one. I did the same thing as you thermal and now im stuck with a cd player that says "loc"

yea, all i can tell u is, if the pushbutton codes availible online don't work, the dealership can reprogram it....longterm too, b/c my battery just died, and i was worried the swap would lock it again, but it's good to go.
