Only Copmaros have this done.. well all cops have the same thing done but get different results.. all cop cars get their speedometer altered, cop tires, cop suspension, and a special chip which is what boosts the LT1 HP from 270-280 to 350
Rally, sorry but your not going to get 80 horse out of any chip, no matter how good it is.. The LT1 1LE cars have stuff like better flowing heads, a more radical cam, A/C delete, a less restrictive intake elbow, less restrictive exhaust manifolds/ exhaust and PCM tuning. As far as suspension, they have harder springs and shocks with larger sway bars.

Okay let me simple it down a bit cause that was kind of confusing..

LT1 Copmaros - 350 HP
Ls1 z28 - 300
Ls1 SS - 320

so its not even an SS....just a completely modified LT1. dam i would hate to try and outrun that thing.

im sure the STi only has like 220 to the wheels. i know the stock WRX w/ 227 hp gets like 170 to the ground......terrible.

damn 220 to the wheels no wonder i rapped the sti

Sure they could get that high but typical drivetrain loss for AWD is 30 - 35 %. So for a 300 horse vehicle that would be 195 - 210 but since newer vehicle usually have less loss I could see one getting 220.

Pft....what is 350 horse anymore? :icon16:
STi can turn way better than a 13.6.
Not here. Remember, I am in Colorado. Turbo cars don't suffer as bad here as the N/A cars, but they still suffer.

Doubt it is that low. What does it take to trap 100 MPH?? About 260 WHP.

I would own an STi. Flat out. Great cars. Quick, fairly nimble, good looking, etc....
But I still believe they are lacking top end.

Based on the 3200lb's it weighs and its 94 - 96 MPH trap speed that the average Sti completely stock gets. They are making between 210 - 221 Horsepower at the wheels.

Man. They trap 96 or so up here. Oh well.

Are they completely stock?. If so, thats very strange.

Man. They trap 96 or so up here. Oh well.Just as a point of reference to top speed cruising though as someone like yourself who is familiar with 1/4 mile stats. What reference does 1/4 trap speed have to the race if it went farther than the 1/4 mile. Another words, what can you tell say by a car that finishs the 1/4 at 108 - 110 MPH versus a car that traps 94 - 96 MPH. Which car will be going farther ahead say another 1/2 mile down the road.

Mr. Luos

You figure the car with the higher trap speed has more power. Of course weight does play a role. Whoevers trap speed is higher will PROBABLY be the winner in a race from a roll.

STi traps at 96 MPH and I trapped at 105 MPH. We ran about the same times. That is a ton of range there. Imagine using that power for another 1/4 mile. You would see me pulling away pretty hard after that first 1/4 mark.

Right, so for a car running on the highway trying to get away from say a state trooper or highway patrol. Would be better off with the car with the higher trap speed being that he will be reaching the faster speed sooner.

Mr. Luos

Depends on distance. Gearing would also play a role.

But overall, I would say the car with the higher trap speed.

hell of alot less than an STi. Still rather have the Subaru though.

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS.

An STi would be a perfect daily driver.
