shifting sounds

2001, SL 5spd 1.9 ohc

my shifter makes a clanky noise when i move it from side to side in neutral and sometimes is kinda stickey and its a pain to go into 2nd, its more of an pain, the sound of klanky metal really pisses me off,

do you guys this the problem is in the shifter delee (possably a loose screw or bushing) or what? any suggestions would be great!!!

thanks, this really bugged me since i got the car and the dealer says its normal, but other cars dont do that, not one of my friends

my thoughts on the dealer is that whenever there is a problem they just say its normal so the dont have to fix it!

Check the trans for gear oil. Sometimes mine makes that noise but not always. Only once and a while don't let it piss you off.
