You need a logger to see knock, yes.

The tank is about 15.9 gallons on the awd 2g. The gauge reads empty and the light comes on well before its out of gas, thanks to the tremendous number of morons on this planet. When my guage was on the empty line, I still had 3-4 gallons left. I also got 12 gallons per fill up at the E line. The light came on around an eigth tank, which left over 5 gallons in the tank. After 5 years of pumping it dry and refilling with known amounts almost weekly (during the race season anyway) I had it down. Been a while though, but those numbers should be accurate.

I just got back from the gas station and it is $3.53 for 93 here in southern PA.

Yeah, gas sucks, but the gas station owners arent making any more money. A few of my dads friends own gas stations. A 9000 gallon tanker costs like $25,000. After its all said and done, they only make about $800 on each tanker.

I've got a 2004 Hyundai Elantra GLS that I would have preferred to keep stock, but now I'm actually going to modify it so I can increase the gas mileage some.

:uhoh:

Last time I checked, this was the E/T/L forum. Hyundai is down the hall, 2 doors to the left. Can't miss it.

I Wouldn't say that applies to all stations though. When some are selling for 3.09 and others are selling for 3.74, someone is making some money somehwere. ;) Price gouging is a beautiful thing... In some cases one gas station would try to charge the outrageous price hoping the neighboring stations would follow suit, but when they sold for 3.09 they had no choice but to drop down to the same price. I doubt the cost of thier fuel changed that quickly :sly:

To everyone concerned with gas mileage I thought you might be interested to know that the gas mileage quoted by the manufacturer is NOT the real gas mileage. According to Consumer Reports, it is intentionally inflated to screw you and protect the companies and lawmakers. They use outdated testing methods and hand-built prototype cars to get mileage numbers that in no way apply to your car. This has been going on for over two decades. Some cars get only 50% of what is claimed! They also classify SUVs and minivans as "light trucks" to avoid gas mileage restrictions and any vehicle over 8,000lbs fully loaded has no fuel economy restrictions what so ever. The most f-ed up thing is gas mileage is WORSE today than it was in 1987!

Everyone should subscribe to this mag, it tells it like it is with no bias.

Oh and if you didn't think the gas stations work together to suck your wallet dry your dead wrong... The other day I was in at a local gas station and a guy came in and was talking to the guy at the counter. They went outside and talked for a little bit then the other dude left. When the other guy came back in (him being a friend) told me that the other guy was the owner of another local gas station. He informed me that the guy was trying to make a deal to raise/lower their prices together so people would not have a choice but to pay the same amount for gas...either that or drive out of the area. Gas hogging bastards.

Isn't that illegal? Wait, probably not since it makes companies $ and screws you.

Depends, if they over inflate the price its illegal, but if they arent driving the cost up and just changing at the same time so they are even, I dont see why it could be illegal. I know that some are corrupt (we had a thing up here a few years ago where all the gas stations agreed to charge 5 cent more than what they should have, all got big fines and shit when they were found out) but not all of them are out to screw us. The point of that post was to show that a good honest gas station operator (like my dads friend Bobby) arent walking away with shit loads of money.

It's OPEC man! They keep sitckin it in and breakin it off and nobody wants to anything. Gas is 2.90 here in Northeastern Nebraska and we have 10% Ethanol! WTF is wrong with all these price gougin bastards? They can only push working folks so far, a buddy of mine who happens to be a retired Sergeant-Major came into the shop and said the revolution is so close you can smell the gunpowder! Granted he's kinda paranoid but still when people have to spend half of their earnings on gas that doesnt leave much for everything else.
