This is at my local gas station. I give up.

How many mpg do scooters/mopeds usually get? (Yes, I'm serious.)

Shell is the worst along with Chevron and BP in some places. Where I live there is 4 gas stations X'd across a 4-way intersection. Today, the Shell, Chevron, and BP all had 87 for at least $3 while the mobile had 87 for $2.69. It really has nothing to do with the individual station or the "gas crisis" the major companies are seeing that the average consumer think's there is a shortage so they are upping the wholesale prices to their stations. It's gonna take atleast a week in order for the actual effect of Katrina to effect prices for real. They don't even know what the damage is to the refineres, rigs, pipelines, and ports is yet except that it is prolly pretty bad. As we speak the fed gov. is investigating claims of price gouging by the major oil companies, and I totally believe that they're taking advantage of what is going on. The tanks at shipyards around here have been full since saturday after Katrina hit, and since then the wholesale prices have jumped up at least once a day and sometimes twice a day. BUT, only for certain companies(i.e shell and chevron). Serious raping going on by the oil companies, but what did we expect. Peace-

i've started riding my bike or taking public transportation. too bad both really suck where i live. biking is alright except for watching out for those crazy drivers.

one of the main lines running from the gulf coast all the up towards Maine hasn't been functioning regularly already, so they are definately starting to feel the effects over on the east coast. good thing my car gets pretty decent gas mileage. even better that i'm biking, losing weight and saving money ::D:

It was 2.81 when I filled up at the Shell today. Really surprising for North Texas. I get about 30 miles to the gallon highway, so I'm happy.

All of the gas stations here ran out of gas today. My mom had to drive 30 minutes and then wait in a 30 minute line. There's a big rumor that we're going to be out forever, but we won't. They'll deliver more some time in the next week. Or I'm just in denial and I'm never going to have gas again.

I would love to walk everywhere, but Florida has terrible weather right now, it's hot and humid. Also, I'd have to leave, like, 2 hours early to make it to school.

Not to be nosey but where if florida are you located? In the Miami area last night a rumor got out that gas stations were going to close at 8PM and people started freaking out. I just so happened to be out and needed gas, so I went to my usual stop and the lines were like 8-10 cars deep on each island. I was like WTF is going on and people were like "THEY'RE GONNA CLOSE!! AND NOT OPEN AGAIN FOR LIKE A WEEK!!!!" people were filling up cans and shit it was crazy. But, 8PM rolled around and nothing happened. Yet this morning on my way to work I saw that many stations were over $3. Peace-

That's what happens. People need to stop freaking out like that. A lot of places here are running out, but they should be back within 2 or 3 days.

I hope.

Don't buy into the hype bro, its bad but it isn't that bad. Maybe if China wasn't so ineficent with their fuel consupmtion than we wouldn't be in this situation. You know they use almost 20% more fuel than any other country in the world to produce $1 of GDP. Fucking ludicrus. Peace-

No, no stalker but now I know where you live! That's out of control you guys didn't even get anything from the storm either. For 2 days after Katrina hit us there was like 2 stations in the area that had fuel and there was like an hour wait in line. People need to chill out. The average person doesn't get by hording fuel it just makes the supply run out and prices go up faster. But what do they care, they gotta get the kids to soccer practice. Peace-

I filled up yesterday at Kroger's for 2.62 a gallon; it took $44 to fill up my Bonneville. luckily I get great mileage and don't take any unnecessary trips. I hate the prices but I need my car in order to get to where I need/want to go so I just do what I have to do. It does suck though.:(

Just put 3/4 of a tank of LPG in my car, cost me $12 aus at 41 cents a litre. Petrol is at $1.29 a litre at that station. Don't americans get LPG?

I use LPG reguarly since its so cheap, and with a higher octane rating than Premium unleaded, my car will run it with my timing so far advanced. (I have to run Premium Unleaded when I want to put petrol in it)

I drove about 700 kms last weekend and it cost me $25. Sweet.

Over 3 bux/g in SC... I got gas a few days ago when it was 2.41/g and I have 1/2 a tank. I'm actually driving the speed limit. Commuting 80 miles round trip a day sucks ass. I'm neutral costing down the hills even on the freeway...

I think back to may when I was paying $2.27 for regular at one station. That station yesterday was $3.49... The day before that it was $2.71... and that MORNING it was 2.83. There has to be a limit to how much they can raise these prices per day! It's not so much the price, it's the insanse increases we are seeing in little time.

October 2003 I was paying ~$1.75. October 2004 I was paying ~$2.15 October 2005 oh dear lord... I seriously think my car is coming off the road.

I'm waiting on a new pretty good paying job. If I get said job, I'll will seriously consider buying a Honda Insight.

All the stations are gouging to see how much of a profit they can make. Now in places where the gas isn't easily accesible, I would understand the prices being higher. There is nothing the government really can do except fine the companies extremelly. So, whenever you can, walk somewhere and drive slowly and easily. NO RACING! >_>

I heard president bush say he was going to have allegations of price gouging investigated. They are already doing so in at least one state.

He also said that the EPA has temporarily suspended some of the environmental regulations on gas so more of it will be available sooner, and that they will be releasing some petroleum from alaska.

Gas prices here have been $3/gal all week. The problem is not a crude oil problem, those prices per barrel have actually been receeding the last week. It's the refineries. This country is so fucked up with tree huggers and shit that we haven't built one in over 40 years. I just hope that they can get the refineries up and running so the prices will come back down.

And the worst part about it is I commute 190 miles a day roundtrip and don't have a choice.

Prices came down a little bit here too..

The thing I find fucked up is we're paying for the price jumps NOW not the actual oil that was purchased at that price. We're paying high prices for oil that was bought over a month ago, so we should be paying those prices, but we're not, we're paying for the oil price in 1-2 months in the future.

on Thursday, when I left for school, it was at $3.02 or something like that on the Garden State Parkway here in North NJ, where the gas at the rest stops are regulated by the Highway Commission of NJ. Guy next to us had a Hummer H2, he left while we were still filling up the Infiniti. We saw on the pump....$102.98....Our Infiniti was probably at least $55. I wasn't paying much attention.
