Gas Prices

In my area there is a big difference in price for gas ranging from $3.05/gal to $3.69/gal for 87 octane. It seems the farther out you go into the more remote areas, the price increases. What surprises me is that Mobil/Exxon has some of the cheapest prices around. Before this debacle on gas prices started last week. Mobil/Exxon was usually 7 to 10 cents higher in price than all the other stations. Most stations here went up at least 50 cents in a 24 hour period last week. There is regulations on the New York State Thruway which governs what gas stations can charge. They can only raise their prices once a week, and before they set their weekly price, they must survey the 5 closest gas stations around them, and then average the price out and use that as the weekly price. You should see the lines forming at these Thruway rest stops for gas. When gas was around $3.29/gal Thursday of last week, the Thruway was selling it for $2.67.
