Hi, Was wanting some feed back on 2000 - 2005 Impala's. Has anyone heard anything on the 3400 enigine compared to the 3800 enigine? What type of fuel mileage do these bad boys get actually? What year did they start using heated seats? I have looked at some 2000 models and they do not have heated seats. How reliable are these cars?? Should I look at another type of car or manufacture?? Looking for something with room and great gas mileage. Thanks Matt

posting in this forum was a mistake. All your going to get is a bunch of people saying they hate their impala, and you shouldnt get one .
Anyways, we got out impala used, and it is a great car. It has the 3400 in it, which i heard is a reliable engine, but the 3800's are better. with only .2 litre difference, your not going to notice a difference in the engines, unless it is supercharged.

2000 3.8L and 2003 LS to speak for here.
The 3.8's are rock-solid engine as long as you keep up with oil changes and such. Generally speaking, the newer Impala you find, the more reliable its likely to be. I personally would stay away from the 3.4's, because they have sounded to be far more problematic.
I can't really speak more for the 3.4. But my 3.8 Average 26mpg city, 29mpg highway. I know my 2003 has heated seats, im not sure when they became option, most likey 2001, on LS models.
