That would be a good idea. And it may be time to change her thermostat, too. It is pretty common for them to stick open a little and not allow the engine to warm up enough for the PCM to enter closed loop. Without being in closed loop the PCM won't monitor and adjust the air/fuel ratio.

Oh my god! your gonna laugh at this shit. The guy I bought my blazer from, Drilled holes in the thermostat. His reason, It wasn't opening. He physicaly removed a $3 part and drilled holes in it and then put it back in. a F***ing $3 part. I can just imagine what else he cobbed. If $3 is too expensive. I don't even wanna know. When he told me this, I was like speechless. This coming week-end I am Installing a new amp for the Boom Boom. Plugs Wires Oil Filter Gas filter Coolant/anti-freeze, and maybe an alternator. I'm also buying euro-tails and clear corners. Oh yeah and when I've saved up the cash by next summer and buy wheels and tires. I'm lifting her not lowering her. Why drop a 4wd truck?

Tune the engine up BEFORE you install an amp.

THe tales of my death, running off with BlazerLT or starting an Autozone location are exagerated at best. At the moment though, waiting for the payroll office where i work to cough up a bonus so I can replace a recently ruptured fuel regulator. Car-pooling with the roomie's getting to look better and lamer by the moment - but I digress. My really good fuel economy is in the pits along with gasoline prices, but guess which is rising faster at the moment? Was getting really good mileage, but now she barely runs at all, so she sits awaiting a CPI and nut kit to arrive. *sigh*

Pretty certain. It was one of the things I checked out again when the engine started running poorly at idle but was not setting codes. EGR would let it idle rough, but then set a DTC when you reached full operating temps at cruising speeds. No DTC at all, just sitting there, loping and spewing what smells like half-burned gas-stink out of the exhaust. :P Lifting out the IMTV not only revealed pooling, but a very clean passenger side in the plenum. A tap on the key to let it run the fuel pump makes the fuel regulator leak gas like a cheesecloth. :P
you sure it is not your EGR valve?

stop and go is the worst for gas mileage. u can do some little things to help (no, not mod the truck). 1. drive with the windows up. 2. don't use drive throughs (idling all that time eats gas). 3. maintain correct tire psi.

98 4x4 - I average 22mpg's butu I do almost all highway driving.
Currently, I get about 16-19 mpg on my 98'. I have 129,000 miles with original parts. Rumor has it that if you invest in a good tune-up (plugs, wires, cap, etc.), add a K&N filter, have your intake & throttle body cleaned thoroughly, clean your injectors and replace your fuel filter you could get an estimated 25 - 32 mpg! (highway miles I'm sure).

Not hard to believe at all... Take some factors into account... Elevation, tempretures, moisture, how heavy you are on the gas (leadfoot vs. grandma) tire inflation, mods, (hell my efan and egr mod netted me some good miledge gains, about 4 mpg) you have to remember all sorts of conditions contribute to minor variations in miledge.

What is an efan and egr mod? Sorry if this is a dumb question. A 4 mpg gain would be great.
Egr mod is an egr modifacation. (I am not exactly sure what they do to it but I am sure you can find it on here using the search) The e-fan is an electronic fan. With the e-fan you don't need to run the fan off your pulley and belt so you save the power. I am pretty sure I am right.

I was getting about 12 to 13, but that's 1/2 highway and 1/2 off roading.
When I started using acetone it went up to 20. Over the same terrain in simular weather conditions
2.8L carburated motor, 4.10 gears with an automatic.
Living at a high ellevation.
I've got an E-fan on now, and haven't checked it. It's sure nice to have when crawling up some of the places where I go.

WHAT! What size gas tank do you have? If you have an 18 gallon gas tank and you go 418 miles and run it until it stalls on empty you would only be getting 23.2. So if you have a 20 gallon gas tank that would be right on the money. I thought you had an 18 gallon gas tank??? Please correct me if I am wrong

wouldn't even try, unless we were a little closer in age
It turns out that I'm older than dirt :uhoh:
I found out about a year ago that dirt replenishes it's self every 34 years.
And I'm 36
