Do you all believe if we(UNITED STATES MILITARY) had left saddam husain alone we'd have reasonable gas prices.

Nah, I don't believe that one for a moment. Gas prices are gas prices - they were long overdue for a jump for quite a while. I just wish it would just chill out and rest already. I'm with you other folks that said they want a 4-banger, but I was going to take it to the next step in *cheapskate*... I almost tossed cash down to buy a scooter off of some kid for $200, heavily used. He's getting rid of it because he can't take it where he's moving back home to from college. Just can't beat 75 MPG, though I would most likely drive the Blazer on rainy days. Luckily work and the office is not too far away and could walk it in about an hour, but I just *HATE* showing up in the office sweatier than a drunk going through the shakes. :P

The truck would still roll to grab groceries, haul parts and tools as needed, etc. But for personal, to the office and home movement, a moped or the like is looking better and better right now.

Nah i dont believe it either.Look at how the 90s were so cheap for gas they lost money for so long that they were determined to make their money that they lost and there not going to stop because they know the demand is higher than it ever was which is just going to keep it going higher

GirlBear, could you make that picture a little less wide? The pic widens the post and with the screen res at 1024 I keep having to scroll to the right to read the end of each line. I can't be the only one. Just cut off the cop car and the supra and you'll be good...as long as you keep the Blazer!

Thanks!

Heres where I find a big problem with gas prices, especially where Canada is concerned. I understand(but I disagree) that gas prices reflect international demand and supply. If supply gets tight, demand stays the same, or increses, inevitably prices are going to go higher. Now in Canada, we do have a good, stable supply of oil. Our supply of oil never once was disrupted by Katrina, or anything else for that matter, yet we pay the higher (even higher than the states), and nothing is being done about it by our government. They say they cannot do anything about it becuse oil is regulated by international markets, yet again our great leader PM Martin said yesterday he is willing to speak with our refiners in Canada to ramp up production of gasoline to send to the states. Now don't get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with helping, and I would expect our government to help in any way possible, to help the States, cause no matter how "different" we all claim to be, we are all very much alike, living on this North American continent, and nowhere is it true enough that whatever happens to the States affects us here and even vise versa. But if our Prime Minister says nothing can be done about our Canadian gas prices, as theres nothing his government can do, and then the next day say, he can speak with producers to ramp up production, don't you think he does not have his priorities straight about helping the people in our own country in trying to survive the huge shock of gas? It also surprises me that the storm didn't even hit land, and prices were begining to creep upwards.....if you don't call that monopolisitc price gouging, I don't know what else you could call it. I am not complaing, I am willing to pay my fair share, as theres no way I can do without gas, I need it, but it is up to our governments, thats what they are elected for, to look out for the best interest of its citizens of its country, and I don't think that is happening here in Canada.

If you want to blame someone for the gas prices blame the Chinese and the Indians (and I don't mean natives...)

More so the Chinese. They're buying tons of cars right now.

blazes9395
09-02-2005, 05:46 PM
I agree, but where are they getting all this money to buy cars? MAybe next time you go to Walmart, you should think twice about buying that product thats "made in china".

Gas is up to $3.19 here in West Virginia. Depending on where you buy it. Gotta search for the cheaper priced gas stations to get it at that price. The average is $3.29. What ever happened to the $.89 a gallon i use to pay for leaded gas back in the day for my first car?

For some reason the local Gomart here (in West Virginia) DROPPED their price to $2.89, and the local 7-11 dropped to $2.99, however appears to be only in my immediate home area. Still see alot of stations at $3.09-$3.19 in other areas. Maybe the Gomart found some old gas lying around, or, they got tired of the hand made "3" on their price billboard (they did not have a large 3 for the dollars so someone made a hand made sign that was about 1/5 the size and looked stupid). Either way we are a little better off here today in my town. I wonder how long it will last.

Same thing happened here (Wyoming County) 7-11 went to 2.99 and Speedway went to 2.89. I just hope they continue to drop.

In New Jersey The Price of Gasoline has jumped to $3.56 cents a gallon

Ours dropped a dime and have stuck so far @ 2.89 a gallon. Our state government will be adding a dime or so themselves due to an outdated method of figuring gas tax. They use a period which includes summer usage for figuring an average price of gas, not a yearly average. Since gas is so high it will raise the tax more starting in January.

I have heard that the governor is considering not raising the tax this year because of the high prices. I hope this is true.

Gas back home (in Virginia) is close to 20 cents cheaper per gallon. Course you don't have to pay for county/city stickers here in WV. But I'd much rather pay a one time fee of $25 instead of having a tax on every gallon of gas i buy.

3.59 today. Heres a good one. Iran said they would give us 20million barrels of oil. In return they wanted Us THe usa to lift the Trade embargo. Bush who's family owns many oil fields. said no thanks. the higher the gas prices are the more money the president and his family and friends make.

Yeah, mopeds are the way to go. I own one and it's way more fun than everybody knows. Also, because of global warming, we have more summer months to enjoy them.

$2 for almost 3 weeks of driving. They are so simple and cheap. The US would be alot better off if people realized how neat they are.

i live in flint, michigan and it is at $2.72 a gallon. it dropped from $2.95 a week ago, and was up a little over $3 the week before that.

on a side note, this one guy at my work bought two 6 gallon gas cans [which was stupid anyway because the cost of those cancels out gas money saved] and filled those up when gas was $3.39 a gallon. that same day i drove south and got it for $3.05. well, now he has the most valuable gas in the state just sitting in his garage being put to no use. that guy deserves a kick in the nads :loser:

Still at $2.89 here in West Virginia, and I see it is down to $2.78 in Dallas TX. Just got back from there today. Do not see it dropping much anytime soon. Maybe we could build steam powered cars like Jay Leno has. With the coal we have here that would be cheaper, but messy. I like the idea of riding mopeds, loved to ride them when I was younger, but here you would get run over by people trying to get past you on the roads and interstates. I live 15 miles away from work and out in the country. Highways here not too moped - friendly. Would be fine in the city though in most places. I do see more bicycles now in town than I used to. Tuning my 93 up as best that I can and adding an intake to squeeze a little more out of it. Hope to get it to 23-24mpg after all is said and done.

Ours has dropped quite a bit here in Charleston WV, but still over $2.50 a gal. with some schmucks even higher over 2.60 a gallon. We have a lot of taxes on our gas so we are almost always higher than everyone on the east coast.
And, no, I do not think we will see gas GET to $1.95 a gallon, let alone be under it. Hope I am wrong but, the gas companies have figured out we will pay higher so I think we are stuck with it over two bucks.

Gas prices are crazy here right now, they aren't consistent at all. Lowest I've seen is $2.63. Some places are still $2.90+. It's very common to see price differences of 20 cents or more at stations located side by side.

Yea, We now have a gas cap. That's because the gas station owners went crazy and just jacking up the prices of gas. When we got the word of the price of gas going up, which was on a Sat. Mon. morning the prices jumped from $2.45 to $3.12. Then the next couple of days later it went up to $3.50. Then finally as high as $3.86. But when the station were told that there is now a cap on the prices. All the station owners toke it very lightly. Infact there excuse in not dropping there prices were. There tanks were filled with the higher gas price and that can't sell it for less without taking a lose. Funny, Gas prices can go up a day after the crunch even though they purchased the gas real cheap. BIG BUCKS profit. But they can't lower there prices till they drain there tanks of the higher price purchase. OH Well................
