"Commonly referred to as "baby Diablo," L140 will celebrate Lamborghini's 40th anniversary with a summer 2003 introduction, signaling the marque's return to midsize, mid-engine supercars. The all-wheel-drive coupe will be powered by a V-10 engine, and it promises to give the Ferrari Modena a run for its money."

This is very true. In fact this has been said for ages and in fact I posted something about this in another forum last year and it found it's way in here by a007pl :D
This is very much true, as you said it is to celebrate Lamborghini's 40th Anniversary and will be a straight contender to the Ferrari 360 and the Porsche 911, 996, 993 whatever number it is now!
Again no spy photos have been found or even taken as like with the Murciélago, Lamborghini are keeping this well under wraps until they announce it and not a second sooner.

AUDI SET TO ACQUIRE LAMBORGHINI
"LETTER OF INTENT" SIGNED
______________________
"The shareholders of Automobili Lamborghini SpA and AUDI AG have signed a
Letter of Intent today to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of the Italian
sports car company by AUDI AG. Details of the negotiations will be worked out in
the next few weeks.
AUDI AG is a leading edge provider of high value automobiles. The company
produces both in Germany and abroad including Hungary, Chino, Malaysia and
South Africa. In 1997 delivered around 546,000 cars to customers and the sales
turnover was more than DM 22 billion. Overall Audi employs a workforce of over
38,000.
Lamborghini is a world famous car producer which has developed innovative and
prestigious products such as the Miura, Espada, Countach and the current Diablo. The
company is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. It was bought from Chrysler
in 1994 by two investors:: the Malaysian Mycom and the Indonesian V'Power. After
a substantial turnaround, Lamborghini is now developing two completely new
supercars: the project 147, nicknamed "Super Diablo" that will be an extreme car on
top of the existing Diablo product line, and the project 140, nicknamed "Baby
Diablo" that will be a super car in the USD, 100,000 price range, both addressed to
two new segments of the market.
The two new models will create greater revenues for Automobili Lamborghini SpA
and, herald a new era for the house of the bull. Under the leadership of Vittorio Di
Capua, plans are underway to turn Lamborghini into a fully integrated sport and
racing car company, a target for the new millenium.
Lamborghini is entering the new millenium with a complete product line for
super car enthusiasts and the racing fans."

"I also spoke to Len Hunt at a ALMS race about a year ago and, when asked about the future of the S8, he spent a substantial amount of time talking about the new Lambo L140 V10 engine as an option for the North American S8.
He made no promises, however he felt at that time (again about a year ago) that this was a very attractive option for him given the characteristics of the American market. Since both the S8 and Lamborghinis are low volume cars, it could make perfect sense economically to add the engine option to the S8 at the time Lamborghini introduces the "baby lambo" L140 to North America in 2004 or 2005."

Hello,
pricing for the L140 model from Lamborghini hasn't been fixed yet, but it should end up in the region of US $ 125,000 whenit reaches the United States in the summer of 2003, official introduction will happen during the March 2003 Geneva Auto Show in Europe.
I've recently added some spy shots of this car and some new information about the specifications of this 'entry-level' Lamborghini, take a look at :

Hey lambocars, I remember reading somewhere not that long ago (last week in fact) that the price for the "Baby Lambo" was going to be an extra 15-20% to what was originally thought. Prices of $165,000 are being said. I'll see if I can find where I saw this and let you all have a look!

Hello guys,
as for pricing, the price mentioned on the site is in fact a price given by the people at the factory in June 2002, but my guess would be that by the time the car actually hits the dealers it will be about 10 to 15% more expensive, with a price tag in the $160,000 to $170,000 range.
Also note that this car will be officialy introduced during the 40th Anniversary celebration at the factory in May 2003, when a limited number of members from the worldwide Lamborghini clubs will be invited to a three day event in Sant'Agata.
Kind regards

NEW "BABY" LAMBORGHINI CAUGHT TESTING
Lamborghini have said that the "baby" Lamborghini, code name L140, which will head to head with the 360 Modena will have "significantly" better performance than the Ferrari. It will make its debut at next spring's Geneva Motor Show.
The chassis comprises of an aluminium spaceframe covered in aluminium bodywork, using new manufacturing techniques brought in by Audi. The chassis will be manufactured at Audi's aluminium centre in Germany, a German outside supplier will fit the body panels, before the chassis are returned to Audi for painting. The shells will then be transported to Sant'Agata for final assembly. Technical details of the L140 are sketchy, but an all new 48 valve, V10 "in excess" of 4-litres and producing over 400 bhp has been developed by Lamborghini with the assistance of Audi's R&D facilities which include the renowned Cosworth Engineering branch.
The L140 is, like the recent Murcielargo, will be offered in 4WD format only, with the option of manual 6-speed gearbox or a sequential F1-style alternative. It is expected that this will be the Magnetti Marelli "Selespeed" system, already in production use with Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Mercedes-Benz. The car will feature a new electronic chassis stability system. It is expected to weigh 1400kg.
It is hoped that once on stream, probably in late 2003, that the L140 will see production of around 1,500 units a year, rising to a capacity of 2,000 units in 2005. This added to the expected 450 Murcielargo's this year, contrasts with Lamborghini's recent production of 231 cars in 1998, 265 in 1999 and 296 in 2000.

Well when the new successor to the Diablo was coming up for release 2 names were registered and trademarked by Automobili Lamborghni SpA. These being "Murciélago" and "Gallardo". The name "Stella" as in the older prototype, has also been thrown around. Though I'm gonna bet on Gallardo and watch it be released as the Stella. I'm just lucky that way!

Audi to play key role in new small Lambo
By Luca Ciferri
Automotive News Europe / July 15, 2002
A new small Lamborghini due next year will be counted on to restore profits at the Italian supercar maker.
The two-seat coupe, which doesn't yet have an official name, is expected to debut at the Geneva auto show next March and go on sale in May.
The L140 will compete with Ferrari's 360 Modena and Porsche's GT2. It will be priced at E150,000 to E160,000.
Lamborghini plans to build 800 to 850 units in 2003 and reach 1,300 units in 2004. Installed capacity at its plant in Sant'Agata Bolognese, near Bologna, Italy, is six units a day. That equals 1,320 units annually based on 220 working days. But Lamborghini could raise capacity to eight units a day, or almost 1,800 units a year.
Volkswagen's Audi division bought Automobili Lamborghini SpA in July 1998 for an undisclosed amount. The L140 is part of a E130 million investment plan by Audi that includes the larger Murcielago that replaced the Diablo last September.
The smaller car is vital to Lamborghini's relaunch strategy. The Murcielago is currently built at a rate of only two units a day. That will rise to 2.5 units in July, but the total will remain only about 400 to 430 units this year.
With higher volumes from the L140, Lamborghini plans to break even and possibly achieve a small operating profit in 2003. The company expects a return to full profitability by 2004.
The L140 was designed and will be built in Sant'Agata Bolognese.
The aluminum spaceframe was engineered by Audi and will be built at Audi's Aluminum Center in Neckarsulm, Germany. Completed spaceframes will be shipped to Krupp Drauz, a German coachbuilder that will produce and assemble the aluminum body panels.
The complete body will then be transferred from Krupp Drauz back to Audi in Neckarsulm, where rust protection and body painting will be completed. Painted bodies will be shipped to Sant'Agata for final assembly.
The L140 has a rear engine coupled with permanent four-wheel drive and electronic stability program.
The new engine is a 5.0-liter V-10 capable of around 500hp. It is coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox behind the engine. Both the engine and gearbox are mounted longitudinally.
The complete car is expected to weigh over 1,400kg. With its added power Lamborghini says performance will be 10 percent better than the L140's competitors

Lamborghini? Niente ferie

Telaio e carrozzeria saranno realizzati interamente in alluminio.

Curriculum a: Automobili Lamborghini Holding, direzione risorse umane, via Modena 12, 40019 Sant'Agata Bolognese (Bo); fax 051.6817644; e-mail [email protected]

We present you with the first photos of the last Lamborghini considerably disguised, after that for years fantasticava (< wtf this word isn't in my language) on its possible design. The much awaited "Baby Lambo", for a long time given the acronym of plan "L140", will make it's debut at the Geneva Motorshow in 2003. According to tradition the Dreamcar in the yard would have to be called in future like one race of Tauruses. The "L140" is a two mails (wtf again) all pepper that will reach from the technological tank of the House of From Bologna Sant' Agate (from some year under the control Audios). The motor is a V10 of five liters gives approximately 500 CV (368 kW) mounted in posizone centers them, the change will be a six speed manual or sequential. For the transmission, the technicians are remained faithful to permanent integral traction, assisted from the electronic control of stability, ESP. Chassis and auto body will be released to you in full-aluminum. solution that would concur to contain the weight to approximately 1300 kg.
btw a007apl, nice ry but your ass is banned from here don't come back

Hello,
please try to keep one thing in mind here, this is an automotive forum, and these threads are focussed on Lamborghini's.
If you feel the desire to start another flame war, do it elsewhere ...
I have absolutely no problem with banning everyone that starts calling names at each other, keep it about cars, not about who's got the biggest ****
a007apl has been banned before, and guess why, for putting pics online that offended people, do remember however that he apparently has enough time to search information and photo's from all over the world, he did contribute some very interesting stuff on Lamborghini's don't forget about this.
OK he made a mistake, leave it at that and get on with what we're talking about here, the most exotic cars ever made ...
I hope I don't have to make this statement again in the future, we're all enjoying Lamborghini's here, don't ruin it over some personal issues with other members, use the 'Private mail' function for this NOT the threads.
Kind regards

I can assure you that you were banned for posting material that was much more explicit than that, sorta like links to playboy in the car chicks thread. And you're gonna get banned now, so just stop trying.

Hey Andre do you have a life? What age are you? All you ever seem to do is post abuse, pics or crap like this. Just wondering if you ever leave your PC alone that's all?
Also if you are planning on getting readmitted back into af your going about it the wrong way by flaming people who umm.... can like ban you! (duh) Take a chill pill, relax and if possible post stuff that is meaningful and maybe you will be allowed back into af. I never saw the explicit material you posted apart from one thing and for all the kids that I imagine visit here, if they had seen it it would of caused some distress (not too mention a lot of hits to af lol).
So all I'm saying is calm down, stop flaming people and in time you may be allowed back into af (I doubt it wil happen if you continue like this though) and we will get to see the Lambo related stuff that is hidden in the basement of the internet that you somehow manage to find.
At the rate your going just now with namechanges and slagging other members and mods, you just look like an idiot :alien: .
PS Using "this is my thread" as a claim to fame is just pathetic.

LB2003
10-11-2002, 07:39 PM
http://www.thecarconnection.com/images/gallery/6264_image.jpgLamborghini’s newest offspring, codenamed LB140, is nearing its due date of May 2003. Powered by a new 5.0-liter V-10 with more than 500 horsepower mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the all-wheel-drive supercar will have a top speed of more than 180 miles per hour.
Sitting on an aluminum spaceframe chassis developed with technology from parent company Audi, the baby Lambo should weigh in under 3100 lb. First-year production numbers are expected to be around 800, so have at least $150,000 in your checkbook.
ps.: I deleted my first post because that pics now Red-X's
