Problems:
-Low a quart of oil, put oil in, ran motor for awhile, now needs aprox. 1/2 quart
-oil flowing into the overflow tank
-no water in the oil
-overheating
-thick choc milk color in overflow tank
-prior owner had head gasket replaced and head checked - was fine
-has been sitting for 6 months after ran only 2 months before happened again
-HELP!
How can you tell if it's a cracked head or bad head gasket or cracked block? Do you know aprox cost for each of these?
Is it standard to use Dexcool in this car?
Any suggestions helpful.
Thank you, Curtis

the switch to dexcool was made mid-year 96
since its a SOHC engine, it is most likey a cracked head(saturn had a few bad castings in the mid 90's). but you really can't tell until you take it apart.
if you have a automatic transmission, check the ATF for the same milkshake look. if it is, the radiator may be at fault, not the engine.
you can sometimes find good prices on cylinder heads on ebay(i bought one for $60)
