Just foudn this vid, its that AMS tuned EVO, includes all the races we've seen and then some. Very good video, it gets a double thumbs up from me for usage of Lostprophets-To Hell We Ride. He races a bike in this one, R1 with a handfull of mods...not sure if he loses or not becuase the camera car is way to far back and shooting from an angle. The way it looks to me, he ends up running even with it after he does the usual turbo spool and catch up, but ya'll can be the judge...Right click save as...

Seems to me it'd be more like an 11 second car. In all his videos he seems to not get the jump on anybody. After a few seconds though his turbo spins up and he's able to pass them. Just my :2cents:

Anyway, I respect what he did with that car, but I'm not drooling over it. Where I'm at, 10 second muscle cars and everywhere and I'd much rather have something like that than an EVO. Again, just my :2cents:

In fact one of the guys I work with takes muscle cars, turns them into 10 second machines, and sells them.

Probably Envision Performance. I've seen a Civic and a Cougar with the Envision Performance Vinyls here in lubbock. I'm not going to try and get a bunch of sponsors and plaster that stuff on my car. But I do kinda agree with some of you guys, as far as speed, its nothing very special. Hell i got a friend with a street legal, low 10 sec, all motor LS1 vett that would give that evo a run for its money, and at least 2 5.0 stangs that would do the same (mine not included (although mine is a lot slower(12.8 with slicks, maby when i install nitrouse or a turbo though + lower compression))) but youl never hear of them no matter how fast they are, because theres a thousand others like them out there. I am jelouse.

No slouch in the handling department... can easily pull 1g on the skidpad. And some of those Vette's he didn't pull away too fast on...soo it'd be close race on a closed circuit.

I love seeing this AMS evo spanking and getting spanked. Sure the thing has to deal with spool up but god damn when it gets up there it not only passes the other car but puts many many carlengths on it and the evo is supposed to be fastest from a dig. That powerhouse maro was awesome to see but I wonder how they would both do without the nitrous. I'm pretty sure the old maro had a 300 shot and the evo had a 55 shot. Not to say the evo would take the camaro but it would be interesting.

Don't forget a front differential, less a couple hundred pounds, and a lot of suspension work. Racing an Evo in a straight line is about 1/3 of what that car can do. I'd love to see this guy's car on a road course. :iceslolan

Favorite thing about those videos is if you're in one of those V8 musclecars, you get the jump, think you'e winning, then you hear the wisssssssssss of the turbo in your ear as the Evo passes and then the bwaaaaaaaa of the exhaust, and it's over more times than not.

You know....something tells me it wouldn't do that great on a road course.

That is a TON of power for road racing. Sometimes, less power is a good thing.

Again....a MEAN Evo.

And and F-Body can do fairly decent at Auto-X and road racing. Although it does take some suspension work. Too much car to be great at it though.

Don't forget, awd is so easy to handle, 150mph plus straight or on the coarse, period. Yes they tend to understeer, but this is an advantage to someone that doesn't know how to correct an oversteer.

A corvette...yeah, a legendary car (my personal favorite is the 96 grand sport) that is still a rwd vehicle...meaning, you go into the corkscrew...hit it a bit to hard...bye bye.. The evo you can turn right in to it, some braking ofcoarse...

I swear it though, this makes me think....is it better to tune an evo or sti...even the early sti's like mid 90's...or just buy a new corvette straight up.... Honestly, i'd get a vette..even if i could make an awd monster..

PS, still nothing is more fun then having the tail end kick out on you at 40 and holding a tire smoking drift...no other car drifts like a rwd.. Unless ofcoarse you get one of those differential's/devices (forgot the name) to make an AWD use 90% in the rear..and 10% up front...making it a makeshift rwd.

I doubt this guy's car videos would be all over the internet if he were filming himself dodging cones in a parking lot. There's no reason he wouldn't be able to handle like any other Evo. The difference in weight between the new turbo on that car and the stock 16g is about the same as the dump I just took. :cwm27:

it's not that... somebody mentioned to put the cars on a track and the Evo would wipe the floor with them all.

And most of those cars it would, no doubt. Except the Z06... they'd probably be neck and neck 90% of the time. If the Evo can keep the boost up on a tight track, it's gold... I dunno it's specs but it always seems to lag (whether thats the driver showing off or it does seriously have some lag from a monster turbo i'm not sure.)

Not sure how it'd do through a slow speed section ya know? In comparison to a stock EVO i'm sure it'd still be fast, but fast enough to keep a tuned Z06 from over taking? Who knows...

We'll leave it at a "Not Sure Verdict" on both sides of the fence... fair enough?

I looked it up, that AMS 2.3L stroker kit only costs a 1500, or theres abouts. Bigger turbo, stroker kit, i/e/dp/tune...I don't think that performance wise there is that much into it. Maybe 7 or 8 over all...I'll see if I can find the article about it again.

Jesus....thats it?? I would think a build to support 600 would cost at least $13-14K. I mean, there is the tranny at the very least. Unless the stocker is bulletproof.

I guess it costs less seeing as it has half the cylinders.

My bad Luos. Didn't mean to put you on the defensive. In the end cubic inches trump all in the 1320...I know that. We all should. I just thought this thread was beginning to take the form of so many others I see in the BMW, Supra, SRT, 350Z, LS1 or Mustang forums. People post this guy's Evo videos and by the 3rd or 4th post all of the compliments are underhanded...ripping Mitsubishi as a company, the interior of the Evo, the hang glider mounted on the trunk, etc.

I for one couldn't bash this car. The Evo and the Scooby have pulled their company into a very competetive level. I am proud to see these cars running in the WRC and the JGTC. I'm a big motorsports fan and a mechanical engineering major so I'm pretty open minded when it comes to quality tuning and somebody doing their homework. That evo is a badass, plain and simple.

I like the looks of the Evo, Mitsubishi has done something amazing with that car. I wish I had the 30k to buy the one that had been for sale here in Lubbock about 3 months ago. Advan tuned and Black as pitch. The dealer/friend of my dad said that is was one hell of a ride.

Going to the bagel store today, i seen a silver evo....that car is a supercar in its own right...it reminded me of the video :-)
