Yes, it got beat by a purpose built trailer queen. By maybe two lengths. Thats not getting your ass kicked, thats getting beaten by a marginally faster car. And if you want to talk about that big bad ass Camaro, then I got a good number of vids 8 and 9 second Supras in full street trim that would bend that Camaro over their knees and spank it from a dig or a roll. That 'Maro also probably cost a good bit more than the Evo. The only vehicle in the entire video that did any ass kicking was the R1, and even then the EVO pretty much pulled up on that after it got spooled.

Your SOHC 289ci V8 Mustang would be in for the battle of its life with a modern DOHC 180ci V6 Mustang. Those old motors were very inefficient. The old V8 motors that are pumping out lots of HP nowadays have been retrofitted with EFI, electronic disributors, better flowing heads and a bigger camshaft(s). The only thing raw and endless are your posts newb . :screwy:

My dad's '59 Corvette had an "old inefficeint motor" with no 6-speed, no fuel injection, and no modern computer crap.
His 1/4 mile was in the deep 11s and his top speed could match any Supra or Cobra. So think a little before you go shooting your mouth off about engines and performance items that were around way before you were.
P.S. He built that car back in 1972 before many of the high tech items you mentioned weren't even invented yet.

Actually, the Camaro was still pulling on him pretty hard... and steady when they both let off. I say the EVO got worked pretty good by the F-body.
It's funny how people always talk about the Supra's doing all this magical stuff. But in street racing videos you rarely see them race from a dig.

SOHC 289? No no no... you mean, SOHV (single overhead valve)... it's a (single) cam in block design... you know with Pushrods and lifters.
And, the new Mustang V6 is a SOHC 4.0L motor, not a DOHC.

Around before me eh? Shut the fuck up Mustang sally. I owned a '66 Barracuda for 5 years, spend $3000 in engine mods and left lots of blood and sweat under the hood of that car and sold it before your kiwis even dropped. I didn't order parts from a Mustang catalogue like you either. I went to the junkyard and scoured Darts, Valiants, Dusters, etc.
And great. You're old man had a fast Corvette. Good job dude. The chevy small block is one of the most tunable engines ever. It doesn't change the fact that engines and engine technology have evolved significantly over the years. That's the only point I was trying to make.
Take a look at the engine inside of the new Z06 and compare it to the 427ci in the old Vette. I gauran-fucking-tee gas isn't any better nowadays then it was back then, so it's breathing the same air and fuel. It's the progression of the engine technologies that enable to new Vette to pump out an extra 100hp on almost 100ci less engine...and get better gas mileage, stay cooler, and be lighter. I present exhibit A...the video at the beginning of this thread. That engine displaces about as much as that 2 liter of Mountain Dew on your coffee table next to your latest copy of Hot Rod magazine. It's because of little 4 bangers like that GM is sucking ass right now. They fell behind and now they're playing catchup.
And I've been there man. I twisted wrenches with my buddies through college and highschool...a '68 Camaro, '71 Barracuda, '73 Duster, '72 Nova, '67 Nova, '69 Old 442 and now my brother and I own a '68 Buick Skylark GS400 that puts down close to 500whp. I love the old Detroit muscle...I always will...but don't let the simplicity of their design and the easy accesibility of the engines make you think that was the golden age of engine technology. We live in good times, and if you can afford it you'll be able to drive around a smog legal, factory warrantied, 13 second car during the week that gets 30mpg...and then have a cherry old muscle car on weekends that's a ton of fun, easy to to work on, smog exempt, and has that wonderfull sound only a big V8 can deliver.
BTW...yeah you're right Redneck. My bad. I was trying to make the point of the added valves per cyclinder, twin cams, etc and got my acronyms backasswards.

Guys, lets not make this an import/domestic dispute...
Plain and simple, that evo kicks ass...all the cars on that vid kicked ass, and yes...that dragster at the end is strictly a drag car....it's not even meant to be on the highway..lol.. What i like about imports is the fact that they can make major hp out of a small engine...from turbo ofcoarse...and what i love about domestic cars.....big V8's.. Nothing like that n/a power that plants you back.
I respect both...

Here's AMS' 2-liter car: http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=147303
The stroked EVO in the vid was for their One Lap of America attempt, which not only required a car to be fast, but to handle, and be reliable.

I liked that race between the LT1 Camaro and the EVO from a Dig.
Notice the LT1 stayed with it through 2 full gears? From a launch? Awesome.
...and then seemingly dissapeared of the face of the earth once the GT35R was fully spooled :icon16:
Fast car for sure...great to see that it took a BB camaro with a 300 shot to finally take him down...that was a great race, too bad traffic got in the way or the evo might have been able to bring the camaro back.

i didnt even watch the video.
but to get upset about a car thats modded beating another car thats modded is just goofy.
vid of a vr4 killing a viper on the freeway. but that doesnt mean much exept a pat on the back for the ude in the vr4 for having a nicely modded vr4.

Nice vid. Thanks.
I've seen that evo a couple of times now... It's badass, but nothing to be drooling over though. IMO.

Further proof that you are a noob...getting your panties in a wad over nothing...I called you a noob because it was your first post, not because you are acting like a noob...although from reading your second post, I am going to have to say you are officially a noob...I didn't have a problem with you, I still don't really...keep it up and I will.

Silly newbs, :icon16:
Seen the vid, nice compilation. That EVO does kick ass, but someone beforehand mentioned that that EVO could be built for 7-8k......BULLSHIT. No way that EVO could lay down that much power for so cheap. Let's do a quick inventory:
stroker kit
Fatass GT35R Turbo
Aftermarket Intake and Exhaust manifolds
Standalone Engine Computer for advanced tuning
Intercooling, piping, water injection?
Bulletproof transmission
racing clutch/flywheel/driveshaft
Are those stock gears?
Nifty gauges, pods, and a shift knob (I'm just BSing now)
Sticky tires
Doesn't add up to $8,000 to me....
And I bet the Drag-ready Camaro would be cheaper to build than that EVO, for one, you don't have to pay $25,000 for an old skool Camaro. I'm sure Mr. Luos could build me one that would run doors with that EVO for $25,000 total. Not hating, that EVO is a damn cool car, but damn, he does get alot of publicity....there are vettes, camaros, mustangs, supras, etc. that WILL take him out.
