I would like to add to this thread, cause I know this kinda crap happens all the time, and all you "tunerz" should realize this............
YOU CAN'T COMPARE A Z24 AND A GSR
they are like apples and oranges, now the guy that started this thread isn't the brightes crayon in the box, we all know that a stock GSR would kill a Z24, unless the guy driving the GSR is a idiot.
I drive a Saturn, I know it isn't as fast as I want, and I never compare my car to another car that has something like variable valve timing, or much larger displacement.
a GSR can only be compared to a car with simular stuff, IE : variable valve timing, simular displacement. Heck I would put a 2000 celica against a GSR and see who would win.
same way that a Z24 can only be compared with a simular car, I wouldn't even put my car against a Z24, since he has half a litre of displacement on me.

:loser: :thefinger my mustang which I gladly sold a couple days ago had a total of 2.2 liters of displacement on my hatchback and got beat, it had 2 liters over my integra and got whooped and 2.2 over my friends GSR(B16) and got SMOKED.
you can compare a car with any other car you want because in real life, which is where probably 99% of the people on this board race alot, you dont drive a civic and pull up to and integra and rev to see him roll down his window and hear "naw, i dont wanna race you, I got .2 liters and another cam over you. just wouldnt be cool"

I "KNOW" a GSR would spank a 2.2 ecotec, I raced one in my hatch that runs 16.6 at its best and beat him, not bad, but a gsr is over a second quicker.

Wow, I am completely surrounded by idiots in this forum. You guys seem to keep on repeating yourself by telling me how a GSR/RSX will beat a Z24. I agreed with that a long time ago. Get with the current events! You see, this forum is just blind import love. No matter what I say, I will still have idiots coming back and telling me that a GSR is faster than a Z24 or how it can even beat a Z28. I am not even going to dignify that with a response. Someone in your own "import forum" already has. :lol: Anyway, whatever you choose to own is your own decision. I chose a Z24 over an Integra because I wanted something brand new that fit my budget and I just didn't see the extra 8 grand for the RSX as being worth it, but like I said, to each his own. Just don't compare your 25K vehicle to mine. Stay in your own range and I'll stay in mine. Like I said, I like the challenge from base integs and civics, this is where my competetion lies. I will say with complete truthfullness that I have never been beaten by a civic and I have had tight wins over base tegs. It's usually not a crushing victory, but a good race nonetheless. As for the comment about racing everything, well, I don't race everything that comes up to me. I'm not as insecure as some of these guys are and I don't feel the need to race every vehicle. I know when I'm beat, so I don't race. I'm not going to go for a launch if a maxima or a turbo talon rolls up next to me. I know that I'm beat. I just think that many of you have a bad opinion of the Z simply because it is american and some of it's drivers are not really in the "young" age bracket. But it really isn't a bad car, or a slow car for that matter. It's somewhat of a sleeper. I am just saying that if a similar vehicle (civic or base teg) comes up to challenge it, be ready for a race. You will not win as easily as you say. When knorwj said that the stats (from car and driver) prove that a regular teg will stomp a Z24, I was pretty surprised because I have a subscription to C&D and my own personal racing experience against base tegs don't seem to agree with this statement. Please cite the issue that you used for this info. I'm dying to see it.

well, for a civic you need the complete swap and since 5th gens+ are hydro that is one reason people spend the extra.

And yes any 95+ stock Z24 (2.4 TC/Ecotec) will kill any import of the same class. Yes imports have a higher rev limit but WFC? that just shows that they can't make an efficent engine with a straight power curve. whoop-te-frikin-da you have to rev up to 7 grand just to get the HP that a domestic makes at 4500.

Well I would like to see some of these Z24's come around here b/c I have never lost to one and that is N/A too. And I have a reality chack for you, your 3.1 liter modded motor makes the same hp as a 1.6 liter honda motor stock. And if you really want to compare apples to apples then lets compare the Acura CL TypeS to your Z24, the CL is heavier and has the same size motor( well .1liter bigger ) So the CL produces 260hp stock and your modded 3.1 puts out 160hp :shakehead it is soo pathetic 100hp more and the same size motor. Hmm why could this be you ask, well it is b/c the honda motors are far more superior to your z24 motor and you are crazy if you think you have something special with the modded 3.1 liter motor having 160hp, I am sorry but that is just pathetic :lol:

these cars are not that dissimilar. the Z24 is actually the top of the line for the cav, compared to the gsr which isn't even the top of the line integra.
both are compacts with a little umph that can be modified to be impressive cars. if this isn't tru, then wut is the "same class" as the Z24? face it, the integra is the same class, and can beat a Z24 stock vs stock.
if u don't want honda's, how bout the new gti 1.8t? thats an "import" that is also in the same class. or even the Vr6 Jetta?
as for the arguement about having to rev way up to make any type of h/p, yes that is tru. but think about it. u've got a 3.1 liter motor, compared to a 1.8 liter. honda had to come up with a way to make such a small motor be able to produce the power and stay competetive with the other compacts.

I have a 1991 Z24 5spd(modded 3.1 MPFI, roughly 160HP/190 lbs of torque) and i can walk all over just about any civic, acura or whatever you put infront of me as long as it's N/A. And yes any 95+ stock Z24 (2.4 TC/Ecotec) will kill any import of the same class. dont underestimate the 2.4 litre Quad4. they made 100hp per litre in America long before Honda introduced one stateside.

i killed a z24 2 weeks ago in my stepmom's 95 geo prizm. all the geo has is a cai that i made myself that looks just like an aem cai. the z24 had exhaust and headers. KILL KILL KILL!!!!!

a z24 has 150 hp and 165 lbs of torque and it depends on how much the outher car ways. i know it will be more than yours but you will have to take into consideration on how much less the exaust and if they took things off. It will still have more horse and it may be better balanced than yours. i think it will be a close race.

Sorry to belittle a lot of you guys, but you called down the thunder and you got it. Point being, that I love my Z24 and nothing you can say will change that. I'm sure that the same is true for civic/integ/rsx/gsr owners. I know how the cars run because I am a mechanic and I have owned my share of both. All stock though. I will say that they were all unique cars in their own way, but I just prefer the Z24 because it has the best bang and looks for the buck. Granted that the RSX's and GSR's are quick (definitely quicker than a Z), but they come with a hefty price tag to boot. When you slip down into my price bracket, you will find that the Z's put on a great competetion for base tegs and civics. Granted that a lot depends on the driver, but the Z24 is not a car to underestimate. As for the base teg and civic owners who boast about crushing victories, I'll let you sit there and think about what you have said. I have a lot of common sense and I am still trying to absorb that and find some truth in it. Truthfully there is none. American cars have made an amazing turn around in the past few years and I think at bare minimum, you should hold some form of respect and not insult the cars that are built in the best country in the world. The country that you live in! Well, good luck guys.

I have a 99 Z-24 5speed standard (stock) and also a 91 civic Si 5speed standard (few mods, AEM cai,chip,"2.25 exaust) The Civic is faster!! It blows away a 99 cougar as well with exaust so your Gsr should blow that Z-24 away. Put some money on the race and buy yourself some mods!! lol
P.S : The Z-24 really has a shitty tranny. I'm on my 3rd one!! And not a cheap one either.

I had raced a modded sunfire (pontiac cavalier) with the z24 engine in it (the gl, gt whatever version). It kinda kept up with my gsr, but I still beat him pretty damn good. I would say that there really is no comparison between the 2.
