Naw, having my exhaust leaking on purpose would sound like crap.

There is a sound difference between a leaking exhaust and a good sounding muffler.
right after i got my truck i was driving and a rock smashed a hole in my muffler the size of a softball. sounded like shit so i just replaced the muffler.

how much need to get replaced, from the block and back, or from the cat and back?

Delta 50 series Flowmaster seems to breath real well, with a very mild tone.

Flowmaster's don't breath well period.
