Where is your oil fill cap? I hope you are not driving it without one! It looks like the front transmission mount is bad, very common on these cars. The part don't cost that much, but it can be a bitch to put on.

Got80s,
I have an 88 2.8L.
The motor mount under the harmonic balancer is about $100.
Mine is soaked in oil as well. My timing cover seal is leaking.
When this motor mount goes, it causes the rest of the motor mounts excessive stress and can cause them to wear/fail more quickly. Change it. I've had to do mine twice in the last 8 years.

thanks for all your suggestions. I was told that it is more than likely the engine mount and that it is not super expensive, but as stated above a pain to put on. thankfully my uncle is a mechanic and is going to take the time to do all the fun work this weekend. seems like with this model anything that needs to be done to it is not super costly for the parts, but for the labor because every part is a pain to get to on the car...

Got80s,
Front wheel drives can present a challenge when it comes to maintenance. The Regals of this era are relatively friendly compared to Chryslers or Kias. There are some secrets, and knowing them makes a big difference. Fixing it the second time is always easier.

So it appears that my posts for seperate questions all link to the engine mount trouble. ( A/C runs heavy http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=434468 )
My engine mount was replaced this weekend and man what a difference. I can turn on the A/C now and I don't feel a strong vibration in the gas pedal.
We located the source(s) of the oil leak. The oil pan needs a new gasket, which is something I've know for years, but the leak was never really that bad. However now there is another source for the leak, probably due to the stress caused by the bad motor mount. The new leak is on the lowest pulley ( as I call it, one of the things the belt wraps around ). It's amazing all the things that can crop up on a car when it hits a certain mileage.
I don't know how much it's gonna cost to fix the oil leaks but I'm sure it's cheaper than a car payment of 300+ a month for 5 years!

Got80s,
The oil pan gasket is a nightmare to replace. It is almost im possible to get the oil pan off without dropping the whole subframe out of the car. More often than not, you can cut the oil pan gasket and slip it around.
The timing cover seal is separate nightmare. Change the timing chain while your at it.
Good Luck,
I would just let it leak.

It's much cheaper to just replace the motor mount.
