Hey, does a cold air intake really add that much power? what is something thats cheap that can give quick power?

upgraded cold air intake on a non-turbo might get you 5 - 10 hp over the stock cold air intake, less difference with turbo. remember it's not just cold air but volume too. and it helps to upgrade the exhaust too.

I've seen perfomance modules like "White Lighnin" on ebay with all sorts of claims about 10-18HP increase. Anyone know if these claims are true?

Did you ever figure out if those modules are any good?

I decided against using a performance module because all they are is an expensive resistor that changes the performance curve slightly. The "increase" in horsepower is not noticeable unless you are running the engine at peak horsepower settings. In my case with a 2.4L engine I would have to be revving at 5200RPM to see a HP increase. Since I rarely go over 4000rpm it seemed like a waste of money and with gas prices the way they are the money is more important to me than a theoretical "vroom" factor.
Merry Christmas!

The VAK intake system from Adam of Prototypepower made a noticeable difference on my turbo, plus gave me an extra 3mpg in fuel efficiency. I would try that, plus his system is reasonably priced.
