my moms got a 99 windstar and i was wondering how to get the change oil light off. im sure theres just a combo of buttons that you push, but we just havent figured it out yet. i know you can just press "reset" everytime you start the car to get it off, but we were looking for something that would turn it completely off.

enter the system tests - when it gets to the oil life hold the reset button

If you still have the owners manual, it will be in there.

If you don't have an owners manual, see if this link will open.

hit setup until the message read reset for system test - press reset and the system will automaticaly start reading system status - just wait till it gets to oil life

The '99 can be tricky because the system gives you almost no time to "input" when input is due. I think I have found that it easier if the engine is idling ... perhaps because the PCM and instrument cluster have other things to do ... and you get a bit more time to press the right button.

yeah i was driving it today and trying to to the system check. it got to the oil life and i held down the reset button, but it was there again when i started it up again. ill try again when the car isnt moving. thanks for the input.
