Been away from modeling a bit, got my new kit which is a tamiya golf v5, eversince the R32 came out i was in love with it, wanted to trade in my gti for it but i couldn't afford insurance on it. So i guess this is as close as i'm going to come to one. Okay well started some progress on this one, the front bumper vents are cut out, still needs some more work on it though. The golf came in 4 doors, so i have to make a two door out of it. I shaved the panel lines and cut out the pillar, made it smaller and scribed a new door in. Only one side is done so far with lots of work still left to make it accurate, rear bumper is being worked on at the moment. The front gril has been cut out and will have a badgeless aftermarket one. Progress will be slow on this one due to a couple other projects at hand, also school and work also. The most difficult part will be creating the sideskirts. Leave some feedback guys.

Willmo - The wheel base is the same for all 4 and 2 door golfs (a.8t,vr6,tdi) might be a tiny bit bigger on the r32, but in scale form its close enough for me.
emperorsupra - Does weigh a little much, less than 3300 lbs to be exact, but thats less than any golf. Also its not quick from zero to sixty, but thats because of the gearing. Still 0-60 in 6.4 is quite amazing, the euro r32 i beleive is 0-62 in 6.1
Quite impressive if you ask me for being stock. The thing is that it will pull away from sti or evo (stock) in the long run.

Looking good, I love seeing 2 door/ 4 door conversions! I might be wrong but I think the rear window right now is looking kind of too small compared to the real car. Perhaps you could take a look at it? but again i could be wrong though..
Good luck!

A little bit of progress, not much due to some unfortunate events. One of my good friends past away on july 3rd in a car accident, only 20 years old. EK R.I.P. reppin KBS for life kid!! The good always die young!!
The rear bumper recieved some surgery, the cut outs aren't complete and perfectly sized yet. More progress to come, so stay tuned. This build will be dedicated to my one and only friend Eric Kalber.

Wanted to see how it will look with primer with the other side not done yet. Also to pick out the trouble spots to sand and putty. Don't worry it won't be painted until everything looks nice. some teaser shots.

Finally got this project out of the box again, made a badgeless front grill, i also fitted in some skirts, stock skirts were frustrating to build!! Panel lines on the doors are done, but the picture doesn't help showing them. Also i'm slowly sanding it down to smoothness, had many flaws after i shot some primer so i added more putty. Now it will be sanded and the front lower grills will be shaped a little bit more. Comments suggestions?

A little progress on this project. I was able to fit the suspension with minor modifications. The front springs/struts were cut with about 1 mm taken out. In order for me to fit the rear wheels i had to dremel out the inside of the wheels, about 1/4". The rear wheels have a positive camber, that will be fixed. Oh the wheels used are fujimi BBS LMs, and i think they will be painted gunmetal. Hopefully next week the body will be primed and painted Blue Lagoon.

Cool, glad to see this project is being continued.
I know have to do much of the same conversion to the kit I found a few months ago: I have to make it a 2-door to match the Golf GL I bought in October. My biggest obstacles are the door handle recesses and the hubcaps. I might just have to buy alloys for the real car rather than make new ones for the model :)

Little update time, I got the paint (Deep blue pearl) mixed by a local dealer. I sprayed 5-8 coats, follwed by duplicolor clear as i thought tamiya clear would have caused problems. The paint seems a little darker than the actual car color, but i have to deal with it. I polished it out, and i polished through the paint in two spots, they will be covered up by some light coats of paint and clear through my airbrush. I Also made progress on the chasis, which i will show some pics of it tomorrow. Comments and suggestions please.
