I have a Si but the idiot that I got it from droped a D15B2 in it, (Dot ask me why) Im looking to get it to a SiR or better. Im looking at the cost, how difficult it is to install, and all the parts that im going to need. If you have any suggestion on what you think that I sould do let me know. I know that in the end it is my pocket book, and my car. but I really need some suggestions ... Im thinking of doing it peice by peice but I dont know what to start with. Head, cams.. ect. you know the drill.

Thanks Guys

Start with the search button, there's hours of debate about this kinda stuff.. And most of us are too lazy to get into it anymore. :p

why not just go with a gsr? A lot better IMO because of the torque so just keep the D15 for now and save up for the B18c. Trust me you will love torque.

Well, Eather way im going to keep the D15 until I get another engine. and fix it up. while its out of the car.. besides if I go with the B18C... what else am I going to need get when I do the swap...

YES you should go with the GSR! And you need the motor mount kit to install it.

ECU, transmission (tranny mount conversion if you get a hydro tranny), axles, shiftlinkage.

So a B18C5... I should go for that.. Would it be possible to build the engine peace by peace? and where do you think I should go for the parts... or should I look for a used.. I looked for one one the web,, but there was one like 300 miles away..

If you go with the ITR engine, you should buy all the parts at once. There are quite a few good places online to buy them from.

Depends on what you wanna do...

N/A then C5 all the way!

If you wanna boost it, go with the C1...

The C5 has higher compression and not so well for boost...

I personally would go with the B18C1 GSR engine...

So your saying that the c5 has more HP but the C1 has more torque?

No...

B18C5 195HP @ 8000 rpm 130 lb/ft @ 7500 rpm
B18C1 170HP @ 7600 rpm 128 lb/ft @ 6200 rpm

(those are US Specs)

What Im saying is, for a naturally aspirated, the C5 is definately much better... They are high revving engines, made to be taken to high RPMs... They also have a slightly higher compression ratio (and much higher on the JDM versions)... This is good for a N/A setup...

The C1 however, is good for turbo or super charging... Which is what most Honda people want to do... And with the slight difference in HP, a boosted C1, can net more HP and torque, than your average N/A C5...

Well then im going to go with the C1... Im just getting frustrated,,, I can buy the whole engine for like 3500 but I dont want to just save and do that. I would rather, buy it peice at a time and build it my self.. I know im weard. I just like to know that my hand turned every nut and bolt. the only thing is.. I have no idea how to start looking for the parts or even where to look. that is my issue. I would like to get for example.. head. then maby the crank shaft.,,, any suggestions

i understand how you want to learn, but buying the whole engine would be sooo much easier. You could buy it, take it apart and put it back together. If you buy piece by piece you may get even more frustrated with so many parts laying around and nothing happening to your car.

ok, listen, i have a b18c1 that i bought, and spent 2 years building... couldnt be happier (well, until i go boost)... i suggest that unless you are going to rebuild the engine like i did, then you should just buy a complete used one, otherwise you are going to spend a TON of money replacing thing that you break, of just need to replace once you take them off (gaskets, seals, head bolts etc..) also, if your going to build the engine, go to www.helminc.com (http://www.helminc.com) and buy the service manual for whatever engine you get (trust me, you'll need it) and if i were you i buy the newest engine you can (simply beacuse the parts you dont rebuild (tranny) wont have many miles on them) i bought a 2000, and my friend bought an 01.

Do you have any suggestions on places to get one. It doesnt even need to be in perfect conditiion... blown head gasket ...(Nothing that cant be fixed)
But you get the idea

here is a good motor site, and the link to a SiR swap, pretty good deals if you read into it, and you could also get a C5 or C1 from them
