1993 Camry Spark Plugs & Wires

Hello,

I need to replace the spark plugs on my camry but I cannot manage to find the back three. I found this thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=419457) but I swear mine are not there. Somewhere else out on the internet I found someone who said the last three spark plugs were located underneath the intake manifold and I would have to remove that in order to access the spark plugs. That seemed like a little bit of overkill to me - at least removing the intake manifold seemed complicated enough in my Chilton's manual.

Also, in replacing one of the front three spark plugs, the wire inside the boot simply fell apart into two pieces. How difficult is it to replace spark plug wires? I have not done much repair but am willing to if it is not too complicated and I don't risk screwing up more.

But, if I have to remove the intake manifold for the last three spark plugs, am I better off just taking it to a shop?

Thanks,
wtgee

There is a generation 3 actual Toyota manual you can download for free at the top of the Camry forum at Toyotanation.com. Just go to the Camry forum and look towards the top. It is in a PDF format. It should give you all the information you need.

Spark plug wires are very easy. Just buy a new set and do one wire at a time, matching the length of the new one to the sample you took off your car. You may have to twist them from side to side a bit before they will loosen from the spark plug end.

I am downloading it now and will check it out...thank you. I would definitely prefer to repair it myself (bragging rights for months to come) but am a little worried about it getting too involved.

Thanks again!
