hey dont mean to jack your thread or anything, but i didnt want to waste bandwith posting like the same question, my friends car just broke down yesterday cuz of the same problem, but now his doesnt even start no more it just sputters and back fires, i think its the timing, you think so? it was a new motor, a d15b but the car seemed to be running fine before it happened.

Another thing I'd check on the dx motor is the cap - check the pin that goes into the dizzy - it has a tendency to break of during isntallation - I've seen that cause the car not to start, or barely start and stuff like that.

he means the carbon button in the center of the dizzy cap. they break off sometimes if you dont install the cap straight.
you guys keep thinking ignition timing, but havent considered firing order or cam timing. if the firing order is wrong, it may still run but will backfire.
also, the timing belt may have jumped a tooth and the cam timing is off. the car will still run with 1 or 2 teeth jumped, but it will run like crap. remember all those fancy adjustable cam gears that everyone buys but leaves at the default position?

my friends firing orders are the same... i mean he's a mechanic he's been workin on hondas for at least 3 years now and this is the first time i seen him get stuck... timing is right, spark wires in position, what seems to be the problem?? distributor?? manifold??

ok i got ya i understood it by carbon button, but anyways i wanted to say thanks alot from everyone, had the car up and runnin in about 15 minutes, svaed my friend a tow fee, and i got me a free reace at the indoor kart racing track lol, thanks guys, the little screw fell out of the side of the rotor making the distributor shaft just spin on the inside of it
