GSX vs H22 powered CRX

Well, My DSM is in the shop right now getting a few things fixed on it right now, and I got a guy that wants to run me when I get it back. He drives a H22 powered CRX. He's my cousins friend (He always sets up races for me.....) and my cousin told him about my car. So what do you predict the outcome will be......

H22 (Prelude Vtec) Crx
Headers (Open with no Exhaust)
Cold Air Intake.

vs.

My GSX.
Mods In Sig
(Kill list includes M3, 03 Cobra, Evo MR, Sti, Camaro SS, 12sec fully build B18C5 "TypeR" civic hatch)
Runs mid-low 12's

You'll take him. There's no way he's running better than high 13s, low 14s.

Probabaly be a decent run.... but I think you'd come out on top... he's a lot lighter but you have a lot more work done to your car...

Thats what I was thinking but I wasn't sure. About 200 hp in the light 2200-2300lbs CRX is gonna be something nice but I think I should come out on top.... I hope. But with all that torque on street tires, from a launch he should be spinning them tires for a little while. While I just go.

I bet he is losing a shit load of power running open exhaust on a 4 banger...no bottom end. Bet it sounds like ass as well.

My buddy has a 1994 or so SI with a B16 with about 200hp, runs low to mid 14's....you will win.

I told him that, Damn rice though, he likes the sound though becuase it's loud.
No exhaust = No back pressure = loss of power on N/A.

No kidding. A buddy of mine ran open shorty headers for an hour on his 5.0 (just to test the engine)
Absolutely NO power anywhere. And this is on something with 300 tq...now imagine what a 4 banger loses. Damn kids...

h22 in a crx is usually a mid 13 second car. so hes still quick, but you should take him.

Thanks for the props on my car Bulldawg. And TatII, thats around what I was thinking it would run. Actually I was afraid it was gonna run in the 12's. But I guess not. Anyone know people with an H22 in a CRX? What do they run? I hate the damn CRX! So damn light, can take 200 horses and run a 13.

i know kris's 97-00 civic hatch with a H22 runs mid 12's. but hes nto telling us what else he got in there. but its definitly n/a.

Also remember, if he's running open exhaust on an N/A car, he'll be slower than any of the times stated.

I agree i think you will take him. By the way love your car man im gonna get a gsx when i get back to the states and hopefully have it running about the same as yours a couple months after that.

so, what are the results? im a dsmer...so common sense kicks in and tells me that you won already...even before he asked you about the race. :)

Naw, cars still in the shop..... I should get it back sometime within the next 2 weeks. But the day I get it out, I'm running him and making a video for sure.

well if the rsx runs about a 14.7 and the crx weights about 500 lbs less atleast then it would probably run mid 13s with a good driver, but hes stupid for not puttin an exhaust. why dont he atleast just put a good coustom 2.25" madrel bend exhaust.

I don't think 500 pounds will make you run an entire second faster, maybe half.

stock GSX runs a 14.9 in the 1/4. If he has the mods listed in his sig his car is running mid to low 12's.

Each 100 pounds you take off your car is worth about 1 tenth of a second, so 500 pounds will take off a half second, give or take a tenth.

Everyone also please remember: DSM's are DOMESTIC. EVERY one was built in Normal, IL. They are NOT imports.

Yeah. my car should be running 11's but I am only running 15 psi of boost when this turbos can actually go up to like 30 psi. Thats why I run 12's. I'm too lazy to get out there and tune it up with DSM link. Also, it's my daily driver so I'm trying not to beat the hell out of it..... just yet. But when I get it back, it's tuning time. I'm going for the 30 psi.:icon16:

Nobody cares about what would happen if he did more work to the honda, the fact is he didn't. The GSX would kill it as it is right now and I am confident that it wouldn't even be fair at all. Of course the GSX is going to destroy the CRX, but those Rex's are a very unpredictable whenever you race a random one. You never knopw what they are packing these days. Sometimes a B16, B18, or H22. Hardly anyone leaves the stock motor in them nowadays. Well, atleast IMO. If I remember correctly you run 11's don't you Savior?

I agree that they can be made to be fast, its just that this one won't be fast enough.

Oh of course, and everyone here knows it too. There's always the probability of "what if?" Well in this scenario, there is no what if. We all know what the CRX has, so that's it. Nothing else. He's going to lose, it doesn't matter. Savior was just curious to know what it is capable of for the moment. Once everyone knew that he would win no prob, few decided to throw in the "what if" possibilities. Face it, the Rex is going to lose this race. End of story...

you should record the race an post it.That would be interesting.You sure he is just stock.........or is he running stock jdm parts?I say this because he can easily get a Type S manifold an exhuast manifold from japan an push more power out of that thing while making it still look stock.Also, is it's a JDM h22a then it's pushing out 220 hp.Now i've seen h22a crx's with type s parts run 13.1 at LACR.Now that track sucks for traction let alone the sea level differenece.So that could easily be a 12 sec crx.

But if not then you should take him no problem.

And the Type R hatchback ran 12's, showed me his 12,7 time slip. If it was a H22 car was a crx, I would have been worried. But it's only a hatch so I'm not anymore.

Thats funnny.Because a Type R stock in an integra runs 14's.In a hatch it should run low 14's all day an 13's with traction.Now he told you he had "cams" and "headers"?His stock headers are some of the best that can be found.Also those are bolt ons........that is not fully built.A fully built b18c5 will run 11's easy.Trust me.I'm talking about having the engine balance an blueprinted,having the crank re-balanced,port an polish the head,3 angle valve job,replace the whole valve train,high compression forged pistons with new connecting rods,etc....Thats a fully built engine.Don't say it was fully built cause it had bolt-ons.There is a big difference.I'm not saying you are lying about beating him i mean shyt with those mods you have ur car is a low 12 sec car i bet.I'm just sayin don't tell people you beat a fully built type R hatch that only ran 12's because then people will start to doubt that.

Also just because its a Hatch and not a "crx" doesent mean it wont weigh less...my crx for example probably weighs more than alot of hatch's on this board.

I know that a (fully built) B18c5 Type R in a hatch should be faster than 12's, but that's what he ran. He also showed me his 12 sec time slip and he said he was fully built, that's why I hade Fully built in parenthesis like that........

I never like to say fully built because I believe there's no such thing as fully built.... What is "Fully Built"? Hell, even pro dragsters aren't "Fully Built" there's always room for more.

And usually in most cases, the CRX is lighter than the Civic Hatch.

I never said he wasn't a good guy, i just stated he should say fully built because it doesn't seem that way.Also i even stated he's got a fast car so it's not like i'm hating on him.Until his post about the fully built i didn't kno what he was talking about but i kno now.

N e wayz.............about wieght...............i believe that the same generation hatch as CRX is 200lbs heavier in stock form compared to the HF crx which is the lightest of all of them.I have a DX CRX and it is probably only a 100 pounds or so lighter then a hatch so i would still worry a lil bit.Can't wait to hear who won though.

I have no idea in all hell what this post is refering to...but in reality you need both.

You'd take him from a launch, no contest. From a roll it'd be closer, but i'd still give you the definite win. (And this is coming from an H22 owner)

You have a DSM link+ all the supporting mobs and runnin your 60-1 at 15psi? Your not even in the 12's with that boost let alone barely in the 13's. The 60-1 dosent even hit hard untill 19+ psi and thats a good tune. Im not trying to throw salt in your game. But ive been thru a 50 trim, 60-1 and now a GT35R and know without 20+ PSI your not even within those times. You have all the mods to run 11's yes. But without running 20+ PSI, race gas and a mildly good tune. You might be in for a suprise aganst a no boost lag N/A 12 sec car.
