Thinking about getting a Honda

My maro has been eating up cash left and right now I can't even gte spark plugs. Its a great car and fun as hell but something is up with the fuel system so i'm going to have a mechanic look at it and if its over 500$ i think i'm gonna just sell it and get a honda cause i'll never have to worry about not fucking being able to turn it on in the mornings (Can't start my maro within 5 mins. >/ )

So I'm going to try to sell it for like 7,000$ has 83k miles on it and engine itself is fine. tranny is fine, synchro's are a lil finicky, depends on what they want. new front tires new ac unit new stereo sytem.

So sorry guys but its been fun. Not going to do too much to it (the civic) just i/h/e without the huge fart can, only a small one.

get your head on straight, if you sell this and buy a honda you will regret it for a LONG time

Regret it long enough to save up for for a nice maro and be able to pay for maintence.

Problems:

1: Synchro's Shot.
2: Front Suspsension Shot.
3: Front Bushings need replaced
4: Some type of fuel-delivery problem where engine bogs down bad, sputters and then has great rpms then back down.
5: Doesn't start up right awya, pita, I'm late a few days of the week, starts up on a dime when its warm.
6: See some dampness/leak on rear end housing.
7: Leak/dampness on a weld on the muffler past the cat.

Hey, no worries man. I'm tryin to find a little honda too, preferably a CRX. But that's only because I plan on rebuilding my engine and basically upgrade everything on my car. So I'm gonna need a daily driver while the birds out of comission. I wouldn't sell your camaro though, keep it as a side project while you find a cheap little honda to use in the mean time.

I'm not trying to flame but i dont see it getting 7 on your luckiest day. It's a 6 bang right? What year is it? With all that stuff you mention being wrong i'd say MAYBE half that...

OK because you get a rusty old CRX, turbo it, and you're NOT going to have problems.

Suspension: why do you say its shot? look into SLP takeoffs.

Which bushings and why dfo you say theyre shot?

Rear end housing: thats nothing. I had that leaking for over a year till I replaced the gasket, and then its fine. If you really want go to a parts store, get a gasket for a GM 7.5-7.626" (or whatever it is) 10 bolt differential, and 2 quarts of gear oil and change it. It would tkae under a half hour.

The exhaust... have that part re-welded... most exhaust shops prolly either wouldnt charge or it would be next to nothing just to touch up one weld.


For the fuel, what diagnostics have you done/what have you adjusted that may have to do with the fuel?

For the starting, (which may well be connected with the fuel problem?) could be VATs... plugs/wires... coils... a lot of stuff... I know autozone does free ignition system tests (among other tests), there any around you?

Xeno, don't do it. Just get it fixed. If it helps, my car fucked up aswell. My suspension is done in all four corners, ball joints, stabilizing links, shocks/struts, all of it rusted and need replacing. Exhuast system, rusted and needs replacing. Brake system, still works good, but in bad shape and needs replacing. Leaky ass t-tops, f'ed up interior, had to take off complete headliner cuz it was that tacky. A lot of burnt out wires behind dash, so things like memory for the radio, being able to listen to the radio one turn down from locking the steering wheel, doesn't work, don't even have a horn, have alarm system but that doesn't work, my cars need ALOT of TLC. I bought it knowing it needed TLC, but disn't care becuase of the iconic name. It is what i wanted for who knows how long. My 1st car was a nissan 200sx, that i got for $200, but it wasn't the car i wanted. I needed to have a camaro, took me almost 2 years to get the damn thing. You can never go wrong with owning a camaro, no matter what the problems are. All these problems i have, i will not ever sell the damn thing!!! If the motor goes, it will be parked until i save up enough for a new one. If wrecked, parked until new. Don't do it man. Like everyone says, you'll regret it. No matter what car you get there will always be problems. They were not built to last forever, nothing last forever, but we can take care of them and make them last as long as we want. Just get it fixed and be happy, becuase it can be done, just put the effort into it. All i'm saying dude, think about what you're doing.

Ehhhh, 6k for the old body style? My buddy just got a '98 with 105k miles for $3,800. It has a few more miles, but it is the newer body style.

If you say you like your maro, go buy a $1000 beater (or a bike, it's summertime anyway and you could probably pick up like a 93 GSX or Katana for $1k) and save your cash, put a new heart in it, and while you're at it, fix the stuff that needs it. What, a new engine and all that other bullshit is going to run you $3K-$5K, less than you can buy a reliable honda for. And if you think you're going to buy a reliable import for under 3-5K you're out of your fucking mind. I've bought my fair share of beaters in the last 5 years, anything under $6k is almost worthless. $1000 will get you cheap immediate transportation that should last you for 3-4 months... then blow it up at an import show.

And by the way... I work 7 days a week, 80+ hours a week from January 1 to April 13... and 40-50 a week otherwise... if you can't earn the money to support your lifestyle than maybe you're right. But maintaining 2 cars ain't cheaper than maintaining one, you're out of your damn mind to think otherwise.
