bad smelling montero

Ive been having a problem with my 97 montero, The problem is that the tail pipe is full of black residue. but the biggest problem is the smell, it smells like burn powdered (like after you fire a a shot gun the smell that is left behind) or even like a rotten egg smell. Can some one give some advise on what the problem could be. Thank bye.

A faulty fuel pressure regulator may be your problem. This regulator leaks fuel into the engine when it is off which causes an over rich condition when the engine is started. This is the cause of the rotten egg smell.

It could also be your cadalitic converter going out. Any emmission or muffler place can check this.
