lookin great so far. Tamiya screwed up on their engine paint instructions for the cover :banghead: I've seen most of the builds painted that way. The middle two tone insert is supposed to go all the way to the head, it's all one piece.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/Jamesl/2439_2mg.jpg
btw are you keeping those rims? I think you'll need wider wheels with all that power, or you'll just be spinning those skinny skyline rims :iceslolan
can't wait to see the result :sunglasse
good point on the plug cover. I'll have to fix that. :banghead:
No idea what I will use for wheels yet.

Tamiya Supra kit which comes w/ engine. SARD front bumper.
nothing big, but I painted and blackwashed the downpipe and wastegate. Added Trust (Greddy) emblem to turbine. Started on battery and pwr steering, steering wheel (Raybrig NSX) and shifter.

<<>>UPDATE<<>>
Started on the dash. I layed a shot of gunmetal down around the drivers instruments, then added some aluminum accents. I will be adding more detail later.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/Blueboost/DSCF0024.jpg
Decided on the wheels. :grinyes: I chose to use the TE37's off the raybrig NSX. The rears were too wide, so I used the two front wheels from two different sets. I painted them with a coat of light gunmetal.
Also, I fixed the valve cover (thanks again for pointing that out Jaymes) so that the whole plug cover was painted the same color.
I painted over the already aluminum brake calipers with tamiya clear red acrylic. I also painted the window borders.

tidy'd up the dash. I'm going to use the poopra decal where you see it now, but that one's crooked, and will be replaced with a properly applied one. :grinno:

headlights and tails, rearviews, oil and dif cooler fabricated, aded CF stripe down the sides (I may use this idea but change it up a bit before its done, what do you think?). Also, I broke the penis off one of my TE37s, so the R32 wheel is on temporary like.

Very sexy build, all the scratchbuilt bolt-ons look great. I like the CF stripe idea, but I think it would look better running from taillight to headlight. Also, great call going wingless :smokin:, makes it look super-sleek.

Great Supra!
What is that rod what you used for the exhaust??
Just a few remarks:
-I think you should lower a bit because now the ride height is a bit too high
-Some kind of more attractive breaks (drilled or sloted) would look much more better
But anyhow this is a very nice Supra :)

Thanks for all the comments! I'll have to check on the aluminum sizes later for you.
-the front is tucked the way I want, the back is a bit too high, but I kind of like it. With such a high-HP engine, it looks a little mean raised in the back. Good for the launch.
-The brakes will stay that way for now. You know, I was in a year long model building slump, and just wanted to have fun with this build. I may have detailed some things more then others, but I went along and just did what I felt like, as apposed to being critical of every single area. I wanted this model to reflect a Supra that had been heavily upgraded, but maybe not completely finished.
I'll probably pull the CF pinstripe's off. I can always add them back if I miss them.
Thanks again for your comments and criticisms. This should be the last model I build with rattle cans. Airbrush in the works.
Stay tuned, I still have to finish the engine and intercooler.

diff coolers run the rearend gear threw them and to keep it cool if it heats up it boils and you ruin the diff.

"Differential oil coolers run the rear end's gear oil through them and are heat exchangers like radiators and intercoolers in turbo systems. If the gear oil heats up it loses viscosity boil] and that will ruin the differential."

if it heats up enough it will boil because the oil gets thinner and thinner as it gets hotter never heard of them blowing up diffs in nascar because the oil got to hot and thin?

they won't blow up due to pressure inside, they are vented, but they do blow up when the oil loses it's viscosity, and the bearings sease up and chunks go flying around inside and get jammed in the ring and pinion. that's when catastrophic failure occurrs.
btw, nice supra.

I did some minor work and took a couple shots. No big deal, but figured I'd post em up. :D
Built the hot pipe and clamps, then hit it with TS42, hit the cold pipe with the same. More wiring done.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/Blueboost/DSCF0035.jpg
added oil feed line for turbo
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y227/Blueboost/DSCF0037.jpg
Im getting bored with it now, and can honestly say its just about a wrap. Needs a catch can and a few other bits but she's pretty much there. I'm itching for my next project (C6) but I want to hold off for an airbrush. Maybe I'll do a quick C6 build for practice, they're only $10. That sounds fun. :evillol:
