'00 SL2 Cooling problem

Problem started late last week. There was a faint smell of coolant, then the car started getting hot.

I noticed that the cooling fan isn't coming on, so I talked with Saturn parts and got a new ECT. The parts guys said that the tip should be the same color and that there should be two similar sensors. I looked over the enitre engine and found only one sensor on the drivers side next to the coolant return hose. I pulled that sensor, which has a black tip, not the brass tip. I verified that the sensor controls the dash instrument. I looked over the entire engine, but I can't seem to find the other sensor. Where could it be?

The ECT sensor is pictured below it has 2 wires yellow and black, it is below the hose on the block,
ECTS are known problems on saturns prior to 2002. Saturn replaced them with an all brass sensor somewhere between 2000 and 2001. Before the switch they were plastic tipped, which looks black or white depending on condition, the updated one is brass tipped
