It looks like its going to be a really huge event...Like atleast 50 cars getting run
I think the earlier we turn up, the more likely to get the car run.

Yeah, I'm going to get in early - try and not have to compare to the turbos and 8s that will turn up. Also to avoid Lang's camera :D

hahaha....doubt you can avoid Lang's camera :p
I'm thinking that too...get in early...get the car on the rollers, and stick around for a while, and watch, and then maybe go for a cruise or something. You wanna cruise somewhere afterwards Pete?

Sounds like it could be a plan Q. I wouldn't mind seeing what a few of the hi-po cars can do, but hanging around all day could be a hassle. It's a Sunday isn't it? Going to have to think of somewhere to cruise to that isn't going to be congested. See if some of the other Hondaphiles want to come along too :D

hanging around all day may get dull. sounds good idea.

hmmm i was wondering, ross's car has a gutted cat and since they play around wth A/F ratios when the car is on the dyno, they'll know it is gutted right? but will they run it anyway or reject it?

Umm....but does he have factory ECU or other one??
don't think they can play with A/F ratios unless different ECU.

hes got the jap ecu in the car but the ecu from the blown motor is lying around at home. does he need to bring both? that wouldnt make sense cos if ross' car couldnt go on the dyno becos of the jap ecu, then b16a4me and setanta wouldnt be able to either... am i on topic??

what I mean...is if its factory ECU then they won't be able to play around with A/F ratios... only if its different ECU....isn't that right guys??
yeah...well B16a, Setanta, and myself can just put it on the rollers to find out power figures.

ohhh u mean like if hes got apexi vtec controller or microtech and that crap...
u can still play around with the factory ecu just a little bit i think. i know that adjusting ignition timing, throttle position and a few other gizmos then u can yield more hp from your car.
auto electricians know how to do it.

 The factory ECU is fixed. Only way to adjust it is to run a piggyback ECU or re-chip the original - end of story.
I fail to see how adjusting the throttle position would make any difference - other than to fuck it up like some idiot did to mine - why I now have to fork out for a new throttle - the damn things are sealed for a reason.
Auto electricians now shit about sorting a car, they can talk the BS, but unless you have a dyno to test across the rev range and compare results then they are simply talking shit.
Now Fueltronics in SA has a lot of experience with factory ECUs and do you know what they did with them? Left them stock. For one very good reason. Honda got it right. With a factory setup, you don't fuck with it because it's designed as a package.
That's why VTEC controllers are bullshit on a factory car. You actually lose power and lose the nice flat torque curve.
Basically, you don't fuck with the system. What the guys at Croydon do is ensure that your timing is correct and that your car won't lean out on the dyno and detonate. They can not (!) make extra power unless something is already out of whack.
Sheesh but the BS I hear about tweaking engine systems pisses me off - I've seen 2 friends have their cars fucked to the hilt through crap like that by backyard mechanics.

ok now i get it. well i dunno wot the hell my auto electrician friend did but him and his boss played around with his stock VL and he ran against 2 stock VL turbos and beat them both. the VL turbos were in working order too

Two words: Increased boost.
Also it depends on the ages of the cars, condition of the motors, driver error between runs etc, etc. Too many variables.
Hell, you can't even compare results from 2 different dynos, as there will be a difference based on calibration. Not to mention the fact that some unscrupulous dyno operators can actually tamper the results based on how the car is run on the dyno.
Still, it's better than the mag racers who claim a 15 bhp increase from CAI alone or headers alone etc. Pure BS.

On my car, my fuel pressure is adjustable which allows a SMALL amount of tuning to be done. This however changes the mixture a SMALL amount throughout the rev range so it can't fix "dips".
Yeah I love how ppl reckon if you fit type R throttle bodies you get 10 hp and if you fit type R cams you get 10 hp and if you fit type R intake you get 10 hp and if you fit type R headers you get 10 hp. A type R TOTAL has about 15 to 25 hp more????? Maths anyone?????
With all the cars Croydon aren't gonna have time to do shit to anyones car. It's gonna be power runs only.
ELECTRICIANS FIX FAULTS (sometimes????)

Spunky, I see you['ve lifted your guess for your power reading. Did your SPOON stickers arrive :D :D :D

what are you going on about? I lowered it actually... if the conversion table was correct.

I originally estimated 140hp which converts to approx 100 - 104 kw...then I lowered it to 85 - 90 kw....
????? u ok B16a4me? :p
that's if I even get my car on the dyno.

I didn't mean to offend. It was more a joke about people with stickers more than a shot at you. Sorry if it came out the wrong way.

no problems :p
I used to have Gab stickers on the side of the car when I bought it, but have taken them off....only sticker that remains is the Mugen sticker on the back, which I haven't taken off for fear or damaging paintwork.
