V6 Maro Vs Mustang

you cant tell me that with a few mods i dont have a chance at taking down that mustang..

you guys can sit here and talk numbers and crunch brains all day over this.. or you can simply... get over it. here's the thing, we all know there is more to a race than numbers. 4 people have said it, everyone has agreed, did anyone take into consideration the difference in powertrain loss in the auto mustang as opposed to the 5 speed camaro? NO. There is another variable.. so until you guys say it can or cant be done... think. I've been gone a few days and havent been around to argue, but heres what i bring to the table..

I have a 93 v6 auto Camaro. 3.4L rated at 160hp stock. My car has a K&N FIPK, Magnaflow Exhaust, no catalytic convertor, a TransGO shift kit (soon to be coupled with a GM servo), and stock 3.23 rear end gear ratio.. my car, is by no means superman. Ok, i havent dyno'd my car, so i have no idea what my peak hp or torque is, and i know quite a few of you guys are in the same boat, we can only assume that we are running a little more than stock.. what.. exhaust gave me maybe 10 and intake maybe 5.. so.. say im running roughly at 175 hp, against a mustang with 225. you cant tell me that with a few mods i dont have a chance at taking down that mustang..

Second I don't even know what your argueing here.... if it's the guy's story well I have explained why it sounds fishy to me and if you can't understand it then your just choosing to ignore the numbers he provided.

If it's a 5.0 vs a V6 stock well I have been talking about stock the whole time and it should be assumed.

Even if you go your mods vs assume good mechanical shape auto 5.0 both driven to perfection you lose. Why?

Lighter car wit more hp, more torque, better torque area under curve> Heavier car behind in all other catergories.


Now if the 5.0 was not driven well or the motor was really beat on could you win.... sure never denied that.

i'm no stang fan, but 5.0's were runnin mid-high 14's... but i believe the story cuz he was saying the 5.0 was runnin crappy, which is very possible for a car as old as 5.0 stangs are...

dude get the broomstick outa ur ass. i said it was possible. there are good chances that if a fox-body stang has been in the hands of a not so good owner that it may be on its last leg. there are quite a few 3rd gen camaros that are runnin like shit too because the owner didn't take care of 'em. my camaro runs fine thank you. and its a '92. y do u think that all camaro guys say nothing but bad things about stangs? i just gave props to them the post before for running in the 14's during the years that the 350 tpi camaros ran low 15's...

this thread is getting really gay, all this shoulda coulda woulda stuff, point is its about who won. if you beat somebody because they missed a gear. you won. if you beat somebody because their mustang was running like shit, you won. if you beat a z28 camaro that was really a v6 with z28 stickers on the side, you won. call it what you wanna call it. point is, camaro faster than mustang. stock for stock. put the same mods on both cars, the same outcome. i can see this thread getting violent pretty soon.

Your absolutely correct. Age of the car is totally irrelevant so long as the car has been properly maintained. Hense my point.
