I have a 2002 Impala The security light came on while i was driving.. so i didnt drive it much anymore... Now the car wont start at all.. The dash lights come on but nothing else.. no dome light, not power windows/locks, no headlights... Any idea? i suspect its the passlock, but is there any way to get it started so i dont have to have it towed? i've waited probably a half hour and still no luck... HELP!!

Sounds to me, might be your body control module BCM that has either gone bad, lost power, or if they can, reprogram it. If i remember right, i think they are only like 55 bucks. But don't quote me....i've had mine replaced, but after everyhing else thats been replace i can't remember how much it was....same problem as you where having...

Well...my car started up fine yesterday morning so it was driven to the mechanic... I got my car back last night... $400+ for repairs. It was some module.. dont remember exactly which one...

It is probably not the BCM, but rather the BCM connector. Chevy has had problems with them for 2000 - 2005 Impalas and Monte Carlos. This is a routine problem. The wire terminals may be loose or damaged. Start with BCM connector C1 (the pink one) check terminal B9 (white wire) and B12 (black wire). Then BCM connector C2 (the grey one) check terminal A3 (yellow wire). Check all the wires, but pay close attention to the ones mentioned.

**Edit** Posted too late.

If the mechanic only replaced the BCM, your problem may return. If the problem returns you should check the terminals, I just mentioned.

This is under the dash? I can't find much at all on the location of the bcm and the terminals. (no pictures either)
