my friend is being ripped off!!!

he (my friend) wanted the turbo that was listed in the classifieds. deposit was sent. sometime between 1/20-1/23 a money order was sent for the rest.

2/27 i let doug know it FINALLY ARRIVED & the turbo didn't line up and the exhaust mani was warped. i get this reply:

Hey Lady just wanted to see if he got the kit on and running. I figured out why the turbo didn't line up with the mani. They used a regular DSM T28 flange for the mani and it was a regular T28 turbo. Why they did this since it came from the same place I don't know.

Anyways...Just keep me updated I am interested to see how well it "runs".

apparently the turbo manifold is warped. the flange where the turbo would mount was serverly heated and has made it unusable. dan would kindly like a refund for the manifold it's self, and is more than willing to ship it back to you.

it is still never installed. it will be impossible to install. where it bolts up to the head it is bowed a good 1/4", it won't seat flat. you can see how bowed/warped it is visually with your eyes.

that is unexceptable. what you are basically saying is he paid you, now your stuff is running, too bad for him. that is wrong. he had been saving towards turbo for over 9 months, money doesn't grow on trees for him either. now he just spent the money he saved on a useless part.

as i stated before, he will gladly send the exhaust mani back for a refund on it. you sent him a 100% unusable part, which is not what he paid for. you can easily visually see it's warped...if you didn't notice then it is completely your fault for not noticing in the first place and then trying to sell it.

a) you did not spend no $1500. you are trying to claim the highest MSRP, which both you and i know you did not pay

b) if you spent $1500 then you would have reciepts and you did not spent $25. and if you have reciepts then you should easily be able to return this exhaust mani which has never been used

you are 100% at fault. this is the last time i will attempt to make things right before i post this up for the forum pubilically to decide on your poor character.

there are no exhaust mani's out there for under $250, let alone $200....i was being more than reasonable asking for only $150 with the old mani sent back.

I bought the manifold and turbo off honda-tech from a "company" about a year ago. I was buying the T28 turbo from them so they cut me a deal on the manifold. I paid $100 for the manifold.

As far as reciepts, no you don't usually get reciepts off e-bay or individuals. I have pieced the kit together over the past 2 years so all my "reciepts" from paypal and what not have gotten deleted. Yes I did spend $1500 on that turbo kit.

Turbo- $450 off h-t
Mani- $100 (normally $200) off h-t
Deltagate wastegate- $190 off ebay
BOV- $160 off ebay
Intercooler- $360 (is a Tyrus intercooler when he first started making them and they were expensive) off ebay
450 cc injectors- bought from a friend for $120
Extra wastegate springs- $30 off ebay
SS down pipe- $80 off H-T
Downpipe flange- $25 off ebay

That is over $1500 right there. Like I said I think he has damaged the manifold and doesn't want to admit it.

a) product was new
b) I inspected and had friends look at it many times and it was not bowed
c) It was almost 4 months ago! He would have noticed this by now.
d) I'll give him the same return notice a store would. 30 days

he sent us a turbo that will not mount to the flange on the mani due to the wrong turbo plate AND the exhaust mani can't be bolted to the head because it's warped....it looks like a damned skii slope....you can see it plain as day with the naked eye. it is more than fair to ask for $150 refund for the exhange of the warped exhaust mani

I have yet to see proff of this damage. Also the shipping was a mishap on FedEx. That manifold was brand new. I inspected it right out of the box after I got it. When I was selling it plenty of my friends looked at it also because they were interested in it.

I like how you call me a scammer right off the bat when it seems to me your friend is the scammer. How should I know he didn't damage the manifold? You talk about 30 days..ok lets assume it took 30 days for it to get there (which it didn't). Thats still almost 3 months he has had it!

Thats what I would like to know. I have never even bolted the manifold up. I know for a fact it was undamaged when it was shipped. Like I said. I have still yet to see any proff.

Not to mention why would he want a refund on the manifold? Does he not know even if it was "damaged" he could have another plate welded on a lot cheaper than the cost of buying another manifold?

it was not fed ex's fault. you told me it was shipped. it never came, after i contact you i then get "oops, my friend forgot to send it." then we wait longer to now hear some stupid excuse about oil on the box so they wouldn't ship it and you had to repack it.

What problems did you address right off? NONE! You later on mentioned that the turbo didn't fit on the manifold. I told you that it was probably due to them using two different T28 flanges.

About me suddenly mentioning the life time warranty. I pulled up my paypal history and got the e-mail addy from the place I bought it from and e-mailed them. They have not replied which is why I did not mention this earlier.

Now I don't know about you, but from what I can see in those pictures the manifold doesn't look to "warped". I wish I could find some better pictures.

One last thing for now. You say he recieved it on 2/27. Then that means he has had it for 2 months and he just now finds out "oh, its warped". I call BS on this guy. Sounds like your friend is the scammer. And for your information FedEx wouldn't ship it because of an oil stain. They called after it sat there for a week and told me that they couldn't ship it because it was leaking oil which was actually only a stain from the header that I bought that came in that box. Yes I admit it was shipped 2 weeks late on my friends part do to me being out of town.

prolly someone at the place fucked up and just welded continuosly. when u weld continuos, no matter how thick the material. it WILL warp. been there... done that. probably what happened, some people can see it with their eyes... some cant,

both edges of the exhaust mani are warped. it is 100% impossible for my friend to have over torqued it.

Um not trying to take sides but i can clearly see the poblem. You purchased the t28 flange and automatically assumed it was the right size/fitment. You figured that how could a company lie or sell bad parts. You never installed it on the turbo/manifold so you sold it as the correct flange automatically assuming that! Then when it was tested, bam! there is the problem!
I do understand taking a while to ship items. Life is busy. Heck for me i work full time and go to school full time and only have sundays off, so its hard for me to ship things. I believe kris hit pretty good on the knoch in the seller threads!

I understand both sides here and i think you both should just go in 1/2 way on a new flange, call it a day, make up, and get back to the good ole days!

As far as the turbo being dirty. I figured it was the coating on the exhaust side of the turbo. I didn't check the inside. It comes off on the outside on the exhaust side.

Seriously doug, don't even say that you ordered all these pieces seperately over the course of 2 years, and didn't check them to see if they matched up. Nobody's trying to say that you "sit and play with your parts all day putting them together wishing they were on your car", but I'd be way surprised if you didn't at least CHECK the fitment briefly. Especially since you said that you and your friends have held and inspected the parts numerous times, at least ONE of you would have noticed the difference in the turbo flanges, a detail that wasn't in your post when you advertised these items.

As for the warped turbo manifold flange... I think you probably would have noticed that too, and if FedEx fucked it up, you can be that whatever box it came in would've shown some serious damage, and anyone with half a brain wouldn't have signed for it on reciept.

Sounds like Ami has done everything she should have in this issue by trying to contact you multiple times about it before starting this thread. Now, I don't know you personally, but I've known Ami for several years and met her in person a time or two, and I can tell you she's not a scammer...

i'm telling u right now... there is NO way that manifold would warp by being dropped. either it was warped when they made the manifold, or it warped when they welded the runners on. only 2 ways it could have warped.

yes and no... yes because the manufacturor made the manifold... they should have checked it for warpage but they didnt. however, it is also dougs fault because he sold it to Amy under false pretenses.. saying it was a "kit"... last time i checked... everything in a kit was supposed to work 100% together... he should have check to make sure the turbo was the right one for the flange. if he was gonna use it he would have checked it as soon as he got it incase there was something wrong... hell... i know i do it. everytime i get someone online or in a store. as soon as its out of the box, i inspect it to make sure it is 100% good and not broken! so IMO Amys the victim here, she got ripped off... well.. her friend

i'm telling u right now... there is NO way that manifold would warp by being dropped. either it was warped when they made the manifold, or it warped when they welded the runners on. only 2 ways it could have warped.


Yeah i think your right. When i got home lastnight i started looking at one i had and thought, yep they messed it up (the person that welded it). So i am comming to the conclushion that it was like that from the start.

when i first contacted doug on this problem i let him know it looked like heat warpage...go back and read the pm history

either way, this "new kit" has several obvious problems that were not in the description, most of them my friend can address. the exhaust mani on the otherhand is going to take money to replace or fix.

even if my friend sends him the exhaust mani in exhange for $150 my friend is:
-out the shipping to get it here
-out the shipping to get it out of here
-out the extra money he's going to have to spend to get a good exhaust mani shipped here
