After driving for a little while (10 miles or so) the security light comes on and stays on. If i shut the car off and turn it back on the light is not on until i drive for a while again.. Any suggestsion? could it just be a fuse?

I have the exact same problem on my Impala right now and it is annoying as hell. My door locks don't seem to work any more either... I wonder if the two are related. Any info on how to fix this would be ever so greatly appreciated!

sounds like a bad ignition switch

I had the exact same problem last year. The passlock light goes on. Then my fuse for the door locks kept shorting out. They replaced my ignition switch but that didn't fix it. It ended up being the actual passlock control module that was faulty. The problem with that is as you say, when you turn the ignition off, the light goes off and stays off the next time you turn the car on again. My light was going on intermittantly. This was a real pain because apparently, the dealer cannot isolate the module being at fault when the light is off. Only when the light FINALLY went on while at the dealer (the 5th visit), was the shop foreman able to hook up the portable scanner and retrieve the codes confirming the module was at fault. Overall, it took 6 visits (the 6th one was to install the module which was backordered during the 5th visit!) in a one month span. Ever since then, I never had this problem again. Hope this helps.

Hi, What good is Passlock anyway. I know I don't want it. I feel like my Impala would be more valuable without Passlock, Automatic headlights, etc. It's really a mater of the engineers at GM having good "taste" and knowing what not to include.
