gm makes a supercharger kit for the 2.4 J-bodies.....yet no one even knows well outside of J-body sites

I wouldn't call it stock. Or can you buy a J-Body with a charger from a dealership? With 0-5 miles on it?

you used to be able to buy one at the dealership on the 02 models it was an option but that was the only year as they then moved to the 2.2 ecotech engine but i still consider it stock on any 00-02 2.4 J as there computer is reflashed and everything from GM

hes got the same setup as i do. Im going to the track tomarrow, so ill tell you guys my times. Im hoping for low 14's. The stock internals on a LD9 engine in the Z24s cand handle up to 10 PSI on stock internals. But thats pushing it.

and thats it, ive added 3 mods since i went last time and ran a 14.7@91 MPH. I added 2.5 lbs of boost, the shiftkit, and the header. Im preying for high 13's, but realistically i think ill be very low 14s.

I am going to bet the s/c is much cheaper.
I would think the turbo would be more power though. I know at least the EcoTec loves a nice turbo.

yeah i got most the same mods as Jayson but i have a few more things like larger cams and both motor mounts CAI i have a 5speed where hes auto and im not running the factory reflash so im not pulling anytiming which = more power as well
jay will run probley low 14's with his setup
also the LD9 (2.4L) can take in most cases 10psi from a T3/T4 turbo setup and put down over 270whp on stock interals....
the GM charger doesnt have the out put of a turbo charged setup the we get 40hp and 40trq from 4.5psi with the reflash so that about 9hp per psi where turbo you might see more
boosted Z's are not slow guys just because its a cavy or fire dont mean anything

They made supercharged ecotec cavvy's from the factory, it was called the tuner's edition or something like that, they had the ground effects kit, the s/c, 5 speed, and some other stuff. As for making them fast, there's nothing wrong with rodding them out, as long as you're trying to make it fast that's cool.

The way the Cavy's motor is set up i just can't see it performing all that well. Its ment to be a peppy econo engine. You boost it you break it. But hey to each his own.

Agreed. With at least the 2.4. But it also isn't all that expensive to build that motor either.
The Ecotec loves boost though. Watch for those. I have seen some of those surprising people.

Yeah def. The new Cobalt SS and RL's are crazy fast for a 2.0l supa charged. I really think the blowers they have on there are dead ends. They have maxed the crap outa em. Did you see what they are offering for a performance gain? A turbo to go along with the super charger?!?!?!? where is the sence in that. I would like to see them go the same route as the Srt-4. I bet those Ecotech's would scream with a turbo charger. Imo take the supercharger off and put a turbo on your SS/RL. You would east Srt-4s for breakfast.

what i mean is the S/C is maxed out. Its allready runnen 12lbs of boost and its intercooled. A pully wont help at all. They are allready very close to max boost.

WOW i cant beleave how much people dont know about the J platform no wonder why people think where slow
first off the a GM supercharger 2.4 engine puts out 170whp on the dyno thats with everything stock besides the charger @4.5psi, add a CAI,62mm TB,4-1 performance header, 2.5" exhaust setup and your running in around 200whp as the charger loves to breath then after that you can upgrade to smaller pulleys and increase the boost level to 7psi to gain another 20whp, you can then after all that go into the engine and get some larger cams and port and polish the head and you can also add alchole injection to cool the charge and go with even smaller pulleys and put out 10psi
if you do all that its good for around 250-260whp if done right
also with 4.5psi(stock psi) and a 55 shot you can get into the mid 13's with everything else stock you can get low 13's with a 75shot rather then a 55 shot as well thats all on street tires as well
im not making any of this up
anyways no there was never any cavalier with a body kit and a supercharger from the factory atleast not with the ecotech engine only the 2.4 in 02 was supercharger from dealership
also 270whp/320bhp is alot in a very light car with some radials you can dip to the mid 12's and low 13's on street tires all on stock interals idk about you but i really dont consider that not having potential or slow for that matter you can build these engines up really good and if you replace the stock interals with forged then you good for over 400whp+ on the 2.4 engine as its already been done

Problem is, for the most part, owners rice them out. This is where they get their reputation.

mr luos most everything is slow to you. But alot of people dont know that the LD9 twin cam is built off the design and bottom end of the Quad 4 racing engine. This is a 4 cylinder engine that has gotten over 1200 HP. In race setup atleast.
the 2.4L Ld9 Engine is a very strong engine that responds really well to boost. And as OrangeZ was saying it responds even better once you let the engine and charger breath. Ill admit cavaliers have a bad reputation cause of all the base models that are riced out.
And the ecotec doesnt love boost. Thats a big misconception. If it loved boost so much, GM wouldnt have to destroke it to add the blower. Not to mention they seem to blow up alot easier. The ecotec is supposed to be getting a charger from GM like the LD9. Only thing is, they have rated it at 175HP with 11 PSI. According to GM it gains 35HP on 11 PSI. Thats kinda sad if thats true.
BTW i didnt make it to the track tonight, they cancelled test n tune night for a heads up street racing night.

No one likes you, thats why were avoiding you, and if you took the time to read the thread, you would know the answer to that question of how fast we are running. And you can consider it stock if it has a supercharger cause it was an option to have the supercharger put on the car from the factory in 2002. Now its not a stock Z24, its a stock Z24 S/C.
A stock Z24 S/C will run mid 14's. Lets say 14.5 to make it even. You need to shave .5-.6 tenths of a second off to make it to the 13's. Thats not very hard to do on a stock car. You could easily do that for less than 500 bucks.

Don't worry OrangeZ, my generation of Civics can't catch a break either. Just roll along with the hits, and atleast you know your Cavy is fast enough regardless of what others have to say. BTW My generation of Civics are the 92-95 or 5th Gen Civics. Notoriously known for being the Pepboy Bitches. All they have are things for the 92-95 Gens'. That's why you see so many of them "riced".
For me, I know for a fact that I am "faster" than atleast 75% (maybe less) of them out there. Don't sweat it, and move along. L8...

But so far i have not yet met a single person who after riding in my car was not seriously impressed with the speed that it has. I took it to a performance shop to have the pulley changed, the owner drove a Mercedes Cl230 or something like that. Nicely tunned, he test drove my car and thought it was impressive. Last night i went down to the local street races, i popped the hood and had about 15 people standing around my engine bay looking at the charger and asking questions. All of them impressed.

Nothing impressive about a 2.4L supercharged/bolt on car running high 14's....its quite sad actually, dont feel special because 15 ricers stood around your car and were impressed.
And civracer I dont know if you mean just in your town or in general but...your are not faster than 75% of them in general...probably not even 50%

Its still a crapalier with a dead end engine. Good luck running with an LS1. I know my srt-4 will eat most of your cars for lunch. I highly doubt ANY of you guys can even run with mr. Lous.
Now the 2.0L ecotech they got in the RL and SS. That thing can hall. i am very impressed with those 2 cars can't wait to run em.

ummmm.. i dont think you even read anything i wrote a supercharger Z24 with nothing else done to it only pushing 4.5ps from a supercharger not a turbo(less cfm per psi) is hitting mid 14's i think is pretty good, and a bolt on supercharged Z24 can get well into the 13's even with out N2O once into the 13's though the Z24 has traction problems at take off because of our tourqe curve is so low so with stock rims and tires we have a hard time getting the most out of our launches thus the guy running stock and a 55 shot was only hitting mid 13's and with a 75 low 13's if he had some wider rims and better tires them times could have been different
also jaysons 14.7 was stock with an auto tranny thats not bad at all name one car in the same class and price range that can do that i bet you cant

My car is 15 years old, it had a 1.6 sohc in it...it has a 1.8 dohc in it now...wow... you need 2.4L and supercharger and cams and every bolt on to hit 13's which who knows if you do you just might think you do because you havent posted up a time like I nicely asked in the first couple pages but you avoided the question.
I have driven many z24's and sunfires/cavaliers more than you have, I used to work at a chevy dealership. Shifter felt like a stick in mud, interior was cheap plastic with some cheap ass seats and carpet, and they had the same interior for how many years? radio sucked, new and old they all made funny noises under the hood and all over the place...overall shitty build everyone whos owned or driven in a cavlier can cleary see that.
I spent 2,300$ including the car and it was easily capable of 13's with a fixed motor mount and beter tires. New setup should be done before summer with 12's in hand for less than 4 grand...you try that with a crapalier

14.3's with 99mph traps and they were getting higher and higher I only had 4-6 runs in with the nitrous only a 50 shot, on an LS with ebay short ram and a thermal cat back....broken rear motor mount, it was so bad the engine hit the firewall after every shift or even just hitting the gas and this was done on bald 8+ year old tires.
Dont know how high my traps would have gotten but I would have broken the 100mph mark and with better tires/motor mount the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts wouldent have contributed to wheel spin.

There are so many people who put a turbo kit on thier econo car or S/C and think they can beat LS1's. Lets be realistic here. You picked the black sheap of motor build ups. Most people build up a nissan(SR20DE), honda(speaks for itself), Mistu(4g63) or toyota(think supra). Not a 2.4L cavy. Why? you said it your self, its only going to handle anoth 120 hp on top of that the after market support is nothing compaired to those 4.
The block i have now can EASILY run 500 WHP. without even touching the internals. (stage 3 w/ toys, 3 inch dp, no cats + 3 inch exhaust, 100 octane, WGA, 20 PSI) I have no clue if there is an srt-4 drag car. I think the Dodge drag car is a reg neon with the 2.0L dohc neon block with dodge avenger heads. i have no clue what hp they are runnen with that thing.

What, it wasn't uphill in the snow, against 30MPH wind, and in 130 degree weather? I think there are some more excuses that you can throw in there. Also, making a Honda fast is old, there are so many quick hatches out now with b22/b18 swaps its like standard now. When one of the first things you ask a Civic hatch now is "what engine swap did you do?" you know it's done too much. Now a supercharged Cavalier, that's something thats different.

Not to get in the middle of this, but that's mainly only because your motor's built for forced induction. Forced induction motors ALWAYS have stronger internals then N/A motors.
