Megadeth-Countdown to Extinction

Everything by Hendrix, Brian Setzer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Gary Hoey, Beatles, Beach Boys, Ventures, Sammy Hagar, Pink Floyd, etc.
Mainly groups with REAL guitar players, not like today's 3 chord wonders with a distortion pedal.

You clearly have not listened to a lot PF, or for that matter remember any music from the 80s. :ylsuper long live the 80s! (but god save the mucisian who tries to resurect them)
I happen to hold a lot of respect for people who can create orginal music entirly on thier own, and often with nothing more than what you have in your house. Mobby for example (despite my dislike of his music, and philosophy) is a talanted musician.

And I will happily admit that there are some Rap/Hip hop bands who create thier own music, with out sampling others. But they are not in the mainstreem, and more often than not are more a fusion of differnt styles, for example Massive Attack (A group I happen to like).

And I never said useing samples was not an Artform, it just not what I consider a good art form. It shows a lack of creative talent from the "artist" i.e. a lack of imagination something any true artist should be overflowing with.

Whrn it comes to musical taste I must be a bit of an outcast here.......

but CHILLI'S BABY!!!!!!!

Weezer and Incubus (But only the album Morning View) are also my favourites, then there is Five For Fighting as well.

As far as singles go I like the Elvis vs JXL remix of the song "A little less conversation" and I still can't get enough of the video :D

Blues "All Rise" definitley was catchy, especially for Britpop, then there is Darude and Boomfunk MC's (Finland's best)

I am not consumer driven either, if I like it I buy it, fuck rap music though and Hip Hop, nothing more than anthems for White kids who think they are black.

Oh god, this could take a while...

Let's see, all time favourite band: Rage Against the Machine. Unfortunately whenever i say that i usually get grouped with the dumbass metal head "down with society, screw the system" punk kiddies.

I like rage because they have the best live show, the best lyrics, the best guitar(morello is god :)). And are all around just a good band.(i can't wait for Zacks solo album, if it ever coems out).

Second fav, The Chili Peppers. Although they've been going down hill since californication (the new album is utterly disgusting.) The older stuff is pure funk-tastic gold. My personal fav would have to be Uplift Mofo Party Plan.

What else...All the classics, Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Hendrix, Beatles etc. This comes from my friends who are all old fashioned stoners.

The kings of funk, Stevie Wonder and James Brown. Nothing can get people moving like those two. Motown stuff was great. And of course Parliament/Funkadelic. Jamiroquai before the lost Stuart Zender. That man is the be all end all for bass at the moment.

I listen to people like Jaco Pastorious, Larry Graham, Victor Vooten/bela fleck and the flecktones and other jazz greats cause it gives me fun stuff to play when I'm by myself.

Hmmmm, this has got me in quite the musical mood. I think 've spent enough time on the computer for now. There's a sun soaked deck and 4 strings calling me, so I'm outta here.

Oh yeah, and I'm sorry, but to whoever said they like Guster...:apuke:

They were here a few years ago with a local band called great big sea. They were horrible, and their drummer didn't even use sticks. he played with his hands, which is just stupid because all that would do is slow you down.

I'm so glad to see that there's other people out there who like RATM as much as me! It's too bad about the breakup, would've been interesting to see what they could've done with Chris Cornell or Lane Staley (RIP)...

There are several that initially come to mind. "Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton instantly gets my attention when I hear the opening. If any song can make me want to get on a plane and travel to Boston, that can.

I adore Sister Hazel, particularly the song, "Champagne High", if only because I know what's it like to see someone that was once yours and proposed to you go and marry another.

Cake is a lot of fun on a road trip, but that opinion is restricted to the album, "Fashion Nugget". "Bucket seats and safety belts have all got to go..." :D

A bad mood will get me blasting "Bad Day" down the quiet streets of my college town. That combined with Matchbox 20's "Push" make good outlets of expression.

But the song that goes, "I'll be your crying shoulder...I'll be the greatest fan of your life..." :( That will melt my heart.

Edwin McCain has a lot of props, IMHO. His song "I'll be" (though tainted by a bad relationship) is BEAUTIFUL and the acoustic version has darn-near brought me to tears several times. He has a real talent for guitar, but his stage presence lacks immensely.

Right now I'm on a HUGE John Mayer kick. "You want love? We'll make it; Swimming a deep sea of blankets" I'm going to his concert this upcoming Thursday, and I am SOOOO excited I could burst! Actually, I tell people his songs are like Edwin McCain sings Dave Matthews Band. Very cool. He'll use a ballad here, a little pop there, and then throw in some skat jazz right smack dab in the middle.

I also just started listening more and more to Hootie and the Blowfish. Yes, I know they suck. I've been calling them "Tootie and the Blowholes" since my brother decided to buy the CD, but I burned a few good songs and kinda didn't tell him ;) I also have been tempted to burn a few Metallica songs lately.

I'll thank you to remember that was 3+ years ago ;) Sure, the evidence is still in my CD case, but it has been virtually untouched for as long. :silly2:
