Road trip!

So, laying in bed last night trying to fall asleep, I had an idea.
I'll send my recently completed green Civic coupe (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=389893&page=1&pp=15) on a road trip!
What sort of road trip? Why, a trip to visit all my AF friends and their models of course!
So here's the deal. It's not the greatest model so I don't mind it getting mailed around. What's going to happen is after I get enough interest (if I do), I will mail it to the first person on the list. Once at that person's house, they will take the car out of its box and take some pictures of it! This would be whatever sort of pics you like; with your model collection, with you, and most preferable, at sites around town (if you don't mind people looking at you weird). If you live in a small town, that's ok, take it to your favorite burger joint or something - there's bound to be something of note to see. This is a road trip, after all. That's the whole idea. After you've taken some pictures, pack it back up in the same packaging, and send it to the next person on the list. The cycle will repeat.
Hopefully, the car will go all around the country visiting different AFers. I will create a special Photobucket account for it and keep those pictures there, and post them in a thread so we can all watch as it travels.
For this to work as planned, I ask a few things:
1. You must be willing and able to pass the car on. Shipping will be between $5-$10 for each leg. If you don't have $10 to pass it on, don't sign up.
2. I will pack it best I can, with a box nested in another. If one or both the boxes are in really bad shape, please replace them.
3. Please don't canibalize the poor car. There isn't anything on there that isn't readily available elsewhere.
4. Have a camera, so that you can contribute. It's no fun for it to go around and not be documented.
5. If you are overseas and want to participate, that's ok. However, shipping overseas is much greater than domestic, so you'll have to make special arrangements with someone to get it to you, and be willing to pay the high fee to send it back or elsewhere.
This is just a bit of AF fun, it's nothing too serious so don't get mad about any aspect of this. That would be silly.

Yeah! at the ACME meeting it can hang out with several AF'ers all at one time. Of course CADguy, Zoom-Zoom, Veyron, Ole'Dude, GTmike400 and myself (mach1_2003) as well as many other modelers. It'll be like a party for the Civic.

One thing though...... the fun could be short-lived if UPS become involved. Just ask Jay about their 'treatment' of one of his kits!

Wow! I've got a ton of people interested. There are so many people in Europe that want to get a visit, I think I will mail it there first (sorry, US folks) so that way no one else gets stuck with the cost of sending it there. Ales spoke first so he's first in line. I don't know shipping costs around Europe, so, I'll leave it to you guys to figure out the best route there (if need be). I just need someone across the pond to promise to send it back, then it can make the rounds here.
So, Ales, PM your mailing address and it'll be on its way by the weekend!
Thanks everyone! I am amazed and excited this has exploded like it has!!

This may sound abit funny but maybe you should document this 2 ways, videotape you packaging it up and dropping it off at the post office and do the same once it gets returned to you when you go pick it up and open the box (if that makes any sense).

So far, I have (geographically arranged):
Europe:
Ales Estonia
snooker Germany
Deedlit Belgium
Bigfrit Belgium
Bas Carwash netherlands
Tikiman sweden
Hiroboy UK
2.2 straight six UK
mickbench UK
Sticky fingers Scotland
States:
Blubaja new jersey
ImolaEK new jersey
Technoman new jersey
Merkeva Virginia (Arizona?)
CamaroSSboy Virginia
P9o1r1sche south Carolina
CADguy Atlanta
Mach1 2003 atlanta
ZoomZoomMX-5 atlanta
GTmike400 atlanta
Supaman Florida
Layla's Keeper Ohio
Jja1969 Ohio
Tonio ohio
SpoonMan Dos Ohio
tardster illinois
Spitfire143 Minnesota
Mikemechanic Alberta, Canada
whumbachumba Texas
Jay Nevada
Jaymes California
VTEC-DA9 California
I will paint a sheet of styrene the same green as the car, this will be the “autograph page” for everyone to document themselves. Like I said, Ales will get it first, but you Europe guys need to figure out who gets to have all the fun of mailing it back to New Jersey (the best entry point I can figure). From there, it looks like it will cross the country north to south, back north, back south, making its way west. Maybe by then it will have some hosts in Asia (I would LOVE for druid99 to get it! Talk about landmarks!) Anyway, this is the master list. I will adjust it as people want in or out. Consult this to see who it goes to next (though you Europe guys can rearrange your segment), then PM them for their address and… well… you know.

Hey Bro. I am willing to pitch in. I live in Northern New Jersey. there are some celebrity homes near my town that are absolutely gy-normous. THen I'm only 35 minutes from NYC, and if I cant get my parents to take me to either Jersey City, or Edgewater, or Hoboken (straight across from mittown/downtown Manhattan) then I can get some pics of that for you. However, I suggest sending it to me sometime AFTER June 2nd and BEFORE August 28th because I'm currently at boarding school, and my summer break doesnt start until then.
I would suggest sending it to people who live in the same state, maybe a little easier I dunno.
Also, from what I know, getting something from Europe or TO Europe can cost up to $30 US. Pretty pricey. I had to get a Minichamps 1/24 Volvo S60R Limited Edition (1 of 1,632 pcs) straight form Germany and the car in the conversion from EUROS to US Dollars was $30, plus $30 US in shipping!!!! SO yea. It gets expensive.

But aren't all the 2-door coupes (not hatchbacks) assembled in East Liberty Ohio?
Perhaps one of the many Ohioans who will have the model can take it for photos there too.
