Have any of you guys seen the new civic si concept? It looks crazy i will try yo get pics up here for u guys. From the factory it came with a carbon fiber hood, shaved door handles, rims, big brakes Brembo??, nice looking functional wing, 200hp DOHC i-VTEC motor, with a 6 speed tranny to put the power to the ground.

I know there are a couple threads around here with pictures and stuff for the car but hey if youve found some new ones post them up!
Keep in mind though this thing is a concept, its not going to be exactly like that when it rolls off the assembly line. It should be toned down a little bit, but hopefully not too much.

Yea I got to see the car in person at the NYC autoshow last week took mad pics..The car that was there was just a shell 2 pipe axels connecting 2 wheels. The inside of the car had nothing in it at all. I spoke to the Honda guy there and he said the car is being produced right now they have many working models..It will be 90% what you see. Minus the wheels, brakes, black hood and roof door handles. So basically the body is staying the same not sure about the center exhaust but I am VERY sure that will change. But the car makes its debute at SEMA in NOV and will also be on sale to the public that month. I'm hearing NAVI might be an option ....

Word is according to VTEC.net that the car is deffinitly looking like that minus the wheels, brakes and they arent sure about the headlights..But the spoiler is a go..But it will be shortened because of visability reasons. Can anyone grab a pic of the Honda City and the other Honda over in Japan( that we dont have here), cause they took the tail lights directly off of it..Check it out if you have time.

crap, I could really care less about the wheels, but the brakes and headlights need to stay.
I've also gotten word that the new RSX will be putting out 215hp now.

nope, not going to get rid of the RSX. I'll try to find the article again. But pretty much the rep was saying why would they kill a line up that makes them so much money. It would be senseless

Hmm...intersting. I'll still reserve judgemnt until I see a production model. The new Eclispe still "looks" like the concept...I mean, the body is a direct lift...but it still looks different. No where near as nice. Concepts do a great job at what they are suppose to do...gain attention and gauge what people think of the idea.
I agree the brakes would be nice but they arn't going to keep Bremebo Big Brakes on a production civic...no way. If they changed the headlights (since you mentioned they arn't sure yet) then it might s well be a different car from the front end, since the whole design will change. As for the spolier being smaller....I'm glad...I hate spoilers.
It'd be interstingif they kept the center exhuast but fat chance on that. Again, it'll change the look of the back and bottom of the rear bumper. The concept is interesting...but I'll reserve judgement and won't execpt anything until I see the production model. I'd be suprised if they changed the LOOK of the headlights. Maybe like the Ecplise, can the light source (like Mitsu canned the weird LED lighting, the I'd be suprised it the shape didn't hold true.

You know...with all this talk of the RSX...it makes you wonder...what did they expect...people to respond WELL to a name change of one of their most popular models. I mean, it's still teh Integra on every other continent..but no....we call it the RSX. Changing a name effects public of perception of the product. Never understood the name change, and never liked it. I mean think about it. If they changed the name of the civic....it wouldn't go over wll and in the end may hurt tuner sales...can't help but wonder with the RSX... :2cents:

I wasn't trying to inform you, I was complaining. No matter how stealth-bomber like they make the wing, how big they make the wheels and brakes, it's still a torqueless, understeering fwd. You may retort with "but it has jdm V-TAXXX YO!!", or "it doesn't weigh much so it doesn't need torque!", but you are all very well aware of the sad reality that our cars will never be sports cars.. they'll always be overprice, overrated, slow machines only good for taking pictures.
Anyone who disagrees hasn't spent enough money on their Civic to realize this yet. So go ahead and buy a new Si for $19k or whatever, then buy a turbo or something for $5k, then an exhaust, turbo mani, internals, suspension, engine/fuel management, tuning tuning tuning, etc.. and when you're flat broke I doubt anybody will say it was worth it.
Honda drivers are the only auto enthusiasts ever who are so afraid to look outside the box, that all they know is vtec this vtec that.. I used to be that way.

Your talking about what could be around a 10sec 1/4 mile if you spend 5k on the turbo and beef up the internals if its tuned well. It would be near it. There are guys running 12 sec 1/4 miles in rsx-s (which is basically the same engine/tranny) on stock internals. Im not exactly sure about the most psi people have put on the k20a2 stock internals but I know the k20a3 which has weaker internals has shown to be able to hold up at 16psi. So yeah, I would say its worth it. Im sorry if the new si doesnt meet your standards. You are so right, no one should enjoy a newer updated model of a car that is faster than previous years, what were we thinking!

Okay, I have noticed all you seem to do in your posts is bash Honda's and front wheel drives. You bashed them in the 240SX forum when you showed your "new 85 200SX," you bash them in here. You're right, they are far from the greatest performance car in the world or the cheapest to build. But do not come in here and do nothing but b*tch and complain, especially with making comments like...."looks like a saturn"...after you bitched about it. Feel free to state your opinion, but the fact you have complained about honda's in mutliple manufacturer sub-forums is concerning. Don't complain about them with the intent of flaming and stirring up trouble.
So you hate them, great...so did a former member with a VERY simliar b16B swapped civic hatch you remind me of. Some of the members here enjoy them, and shouldn't have to deal with the BS. Tone down the negitivity and constant Honda bashing you have done in multiple threads and manufacturer forums.

from what i've heard Honda felt the D block shouldn't be 1.8 and be able to last 200+K like a 1.6

Yikes...and that's why the other shots where called a "concept vehicle." Somewhere from concept to road version it got a lot worse. Yikes...I agree...not feeling it at all. The headlights are too thin and don't flow with the body lines. They need to be wider and go up into the fenders more to start.

BRING BACK THE HATCH!!!
lol it's funny how when they brought back the Si in 99-00 people were pissed that they didn't get a hatch like the 4th and 5th gens. Then people got the hatch back and more or less hated it cause it looks like an egg. Now they put it in coupe form again and you're already wanting the hatch back.
I agree though, it looks like ass. Someone at honda needs to pull their head out of their ass and find a new person to design these cars.

Everyone better stop flip floping and screaming for what they don't have...asking for the hatch when it's a coupe and a coupe when it's a hatch. If you're all not careful they'll give you an Si 4 door or worst of all....a wagon....

I dont know about the american versions of the 06 but i do know that for the canadian versions the HP is 198 in the Si and 140 for all others, all i-VTEC and all supposedly much "sportier" feeling...according to a buddy at the dealership...although so far he's only driven the LX...wont have the Si for a few months up here.....

Other details confirmed are all around ABS, standard front, side and passenger side airbags, electronic brake distribution and other safety improvements. As for the Si, its got a standard 6-spd manual (not sure about the auto...didn't ask!) On the down side...digital speedometer...i hate them!!!

Yeah, I saw a few pictures of the interior. Not my favorite interior design, that's for sure. The 3 spoke wheels wasn't the best looking 3 spoke wheels I've seen, and that cluster. The tach, fuel, temp, etc on gauges in the normal spot and then a digital speedo (80's style!!) over it all? A digital speedo? I hated those things as a kid in the 80's and I still hate em. Ugh...looked horrible, would drive me nuts to look at it when I drive. I havn't seen the car in person yet, but I can say a digital speedo, no way. Yuck. I hate that. it was ugly, not conventional, looked awful. I'd find it annoying to boot. If you ask me that really screws up what seems to be an okay car. They dropped the ball on the interior in that respect. That digital speedo just ruins it. :2cents:
At least the horsepower is up, lol.

24K for a civic? Yikes...even if it does have navi and a 198hp K20. Maybe it just seems high because it's a honda civic, that prices isn't too far off fromt he RSX-S.
Still, I'd think they'd want to seperate the prices a little more than that. I still think it's high, but thats me. :2cents:

Now that price it a lot better, much more in line with the last 2 gens of the Si. I couldn't see anyone buying it for 24K. 4K for navi? what a jacking. Replace the headunit, buy the Pioneer AVIC-N1 or N2 (whatever they are on now) for 2K and save the other 2K if it's that important. Me, I'd get it for under 20K without navi and live without it. That's what all my AAA road maps are for.:)

Yeah, that would look empty. I haven't seen a picture of it without navi either. I'm interested in seeing what it looks like without it. I'd hope they would have designed something to put in there to fill the space.

i agree that honda still needs a much cheaper version or a civic with much more power to compete with the srt-4's and the cobalt ss, either one will dominate this car.
at least we are getting the Honda Fit over here in 2006, ill convert mine into the Spoon Sports model.

At least the new Si comes with a Helical Limited Slip Diff. It's about time Honda put an LSD in a USDM car.
