ABS 99 Windstar

Well now that I have the urgent issues out of the way on my 99 it's time for me to consider the ABS light.

I have checked the fluid. I also took off the rear sensors and cleaned them up. I disconnected and connected them at the connector to ensure there was good contact. I did the same to the fronts. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for me to try. I thought I read somewhere about someone "adjusting" the rear sensors but I don't see how.

I assume the sensors themselves are simple wound coils and when the teeth of the ring pass by it creates a square wave voltage source. Am I correct? Does anyone know what the amplitude (voltage) should be. If this is true then I should get continuity thorugh the two terminals on the connectors. Does anyone agree or disagree.

I believe your assumptions are pretty much on target.

Do you have anyone at a Ford dealership or a high-end brake service shop who can run a code for you? Someone who has access to a "New Generation STAR Tester" or equivalent.

I once had to go thru this process. The anti-lock codes are prefixed with "B" or "C", whereas OBDll codes are prefixed with "P" ... they all come thru the same connector.

Once you have the code, you need the check list (shop manual, or Ford online system) to follow for test points.
