Hi,
I have been having major problems with my gas gauge reading. It started after some very cold weather. The pointer goes from FULL to Empty at will.
I think the fuel sender needs replacing.
Could you tell me exactly where the Fuel Sending Unit of the Chevy Impapa (Base Unit yr 2001) is located and a "how to" to replace it.
Any idea of the cost of this unit?
Thanks

I have a 2001 Impala LS and my fuel guage is acting erratic also, going from full to empty. I'm having the fuel level sensor changed by the dealer next week. It's located in the gas tank. Mine is still being covered by the extended warranty.

it's under the carpet in the back of the trunk, remove the trunk carpet, there's a metal plate with small screws in the back almost against the back seat, remove it and the fuel pump and sending unit is right under easy to access

Had smae problem with my 2000 LS. Bought the sensor for $80 and took about 1 hr. to change start to finish.
