my car is overheating just not all the time and heat work part of the time . I replaced thermastat and water pump and was told it could blown head gasket. how do i find out if it is the head gasket, and could it be something else. help me please

Is the electric fan coming on?
Have you had the codes checked? If the engine is running out of spec it can over heat.
