I have a 95 windstar 3.8... recently a new noise has started from the front of the van, it sounds like a tailpipe dragging on the ground when you turn left. Does anyone think this can be the tierod or wheel bearing..
and no it itsnt the rotor shield, because the only happens on a left turn.
Any help please
TIA
Scott

Sounds like it could possibly be the cv joint in your left wheel. If the boot gets cracked it will leak grease out and let water in, causing the bearings to dry out.

Idaho,
Thanks for the reply, I know it was a very vague problem I posted, I do not drive the van often. We took it out over the weekend to do some shopping. It seem to get a very loud vibration ( not all the time) around 50-55MPH , also going back on the grinding noise, once the wheel warms up it seems to stop grinding ( posibilty of grease warming and going into joint???)

from what I can read online, that is what it sounds like, I guess the grinding I head is the "clicking noise" that a lot of people say they hear, and then the axel hum at about 50-55 mph that up can feel thru the floor boards..... oh well the van will continue to sit, and autozone web site is down now, so I can not price them... Thank you everyone for the help!!

Had one go out in an s-10 pickup of mine, got so bad it was grabbing like a stuck break, the wheel would jerk to that side. I replaced it myself and it was the biggest pain in the world, especially clamping the boot down. The cost at the local shop to do one on the windstar is $200.

My wife took the van out sunday night, she told me last night, the hum was starting at about 35mph now.... I told her dont drive it
