I connected the stereo directly to the cables from the car without using the wiring kit. It stayed on for a little but after turning on the lights and turning them off it went out. Nobody can help me???

Like loeman said......hooked them to what cables?
Random ECU wires, throttle cable, speaker wires?????
Did you pull the cluster and check the bulbs? Maybe you blew all of the bulbs. Does your tach/speedo work? Do the HVAC controls light up? Did you disconnect the battery when you were doing the work? How did you know that you were using the correct wires? Which fuses did you check (under the dash or under the hood)? Did you check for power going to the cluster?
Electrical problems are very hard to diagnose, even worse over the internet with no information.

I asked him that in one of the OTHER threads, on this question.

:uhoh: They are even harder to diagnose when you are asking the same question in three different threads. Pick ONE of them to reply in, and it will be easier to help you.

I checked both under the hood and also under the dash. All the fuses are good. I did not disconnect the battery. I connected the stereo that I bought to where it goes, stereo speaker cables to the speakers in car and battery cable from stereo to the battery cable from the car how it all suppose to go.

I did not disconnect the battery. :nono:
You should always disconnect the battey when you are working on something like that.
Go get a multimeter and see if you have power to your lights. If you don't give us anymore info, I don't know how to help. Unless you want to drive to Arkansas and let me do it for you. :grinno:

I already figured it out I got the lights to work again I had to take all the dash board and where the stereo goes but I got it. Thanks for everything though and for helping.

what he means by direct is that he cut off the stock harness plug-in and wired the radio harness right to the car harness. he didn't use any adaptors from the stock to the stereo.
